Hi I just made a Qantas award booking for my parents which included 2 domestic flights in J with Qantas, and one flight with Jetstar. There was no direct Qantas flight on the route so I had no option but to make the award booking with Jetstar. When I went to select seats, I was directed to the Jetstar website for that segment where payment for seat selection and luggage was stated to be required. In the booking process with Qantas it stated 20kg of luggage was included with the Jetstar flight and I believe seat selection was also included, or at least it didn't say it was not included. When I queried this with Jetstar they at first wouldn't concede the luggage inclusion but later did when I found reference in the email confirmation, but are still demanding payment for seat selection. Has anyone else come across this issue?

I just clicked on the Fare Conditions of a Classic Reward and found this sentence:

  • Free seat selection is not available on Jetstar operated flights.

Do you get your JQ pnr (booking reference) anywhere so you can manage your booking on the JQ site.

I believe the online checkin opens 48 hours prior for JQ domestic flights so you'd be pretty unlucky not to be able to get seats together at that time.

I did a recent JQ booking (JQ website) and didn't book a plus bundle or bother paying the $5.00 for seating and noticed from MMB they had actually pre-allocated my an aisle seat which I then changed to a window at the airport. As it was a JQ int flight BNE/SYD it wasn't eligible for OLCI.
