Qantas advanced seat selection

We have used a JASA to/from BNE this weekend and grabbed row 1 at T-80 in both directions.

The answer maybe that it varies with your status.

737? I can see the whole J cabin at T-anything on a 737.... Just not A330 and 763 domestic until inside T-24.... Row 1 always remains blocked until then on those aircraft.... Weird! WP here.

Have another trial coming up to Perth, will see :)

Has anyone had any experience of T-80 on domestic J flights? Mostly people have been talking Y here.....

From my experience row 1 actually remains blocked until T-24 and T-80 doesn't free up anything at all! The whole J cabin is usually able to be selected (on 763 and A330) except row 1 until T-80. 737 flights, whole J cabin is available from get go....

Anyone got any other experiences to share??

As a gold on the A330 between PER-MEL, it has been the last two rows of J until T-80. At T-80 I can move forward!

WP on A330 trans con I can get anything bar row 1... I'm beginning to think maybe they keep that for CL until T-24..... Have a couple more flights to test this theory....

As a SG I can only select from row 3 on 767 for flight to PER today. Will have to make WP to be able to test further :p

For domestic flights, as a WP, I do not get to see 'row 1' until T-80.

Sometimes I don't see it even then..have to wait until OLCI time (and on at least one occasion, not even then!)

I check using expert flyer - the row 1 seat are generally blocked, not allocated.

Most of the blocking disappears for me at T-80.

If you have a CL on board it makes a difference, one of my two flights tomorrow had row 1 blocked on one side at all the checkpoints, and still shows as occupied using OLCI.

of course YMMV... 2 weeks ago was in row 2 of a 73H, CL seated next to me. Had a couple who were upgraded (ODU/Op-Up?) with catering issues in 1A/C. The crew's (mis)handling provided some entertainment to us plebs in row 2 ;)

Just went online - it's now T-73 for QF777 Mel-Per this Thursday @ 1505.

As an SG I'd expect probably some seats in rows 2-3 to open up right? Although I don't fly to Perth very often at all, so don't know what is the likelihood of those rows all being gone...

See below - nothing any further forward than row 4...

Lots of CLs ? I can't see much as a WP either:

Note that this might be more appropriate in the Seat Availability/Allocation Help Desk thread. :)

Ok update I was able to select row 1 at T-80 on my PER-SYD but row 1 still completely blocked on way over which is now T-19 and normally when row 1 opens for me on trans con....

Out of pure interest (and boredom!) called QF who said they could see the same as me, row 1 blocked not occupied and added that the row could be blocked because of weight/trim on a lightly loaded flight.....?

Looking forward to seeing if they open up for me and/or whether there are people in them!
