Two new Qantas routes to/from New Zealand have been announced.

• Gold Coast to Auckland
• Sydney to Apia, Samoa via Auckland

Both routes will operate 3 times a week on the 737 and commence 16 June 2026.

Goodbye to the OOL-AKL status run.

It's only 3 flights a week, the fare will still need to enable flights on other days and times. The timings also seem to target ex-NZ pax, not Aussies. Completely useless connecting to QF3/4.

I wonder if they misconstrued all the OOL - MEL- AKL status runs as actual demand . I can just see some spreadsheet pusher see all the business demand and go we should send a flight.

Fairly sure Virgin operated the AKL-APW route prior to collapse and it didn’t return

I assume these are operated by Jetconnect.

Jetconnect isn't an airline, they can't operate it. It might (probably) use their crews though,.
