I know it has been a while since Qantas and AA announced an expanded network/shared benefits partnership, so apologies in advance if I'm a little rusty.

I'm flying QF/AA MEL-LAX, LAX-BOS(AA), JFK-LAX(AA), and LAX-MEL. I'm a Gold Qantas FF with a few points to spare and I need to book a domestic flight inside the US from either PVD,BOS,JFK or LGA to Buffalo. There are award flights available for my dates but all flights from all destinations leave at 5:30am, which is just not practical at all for me. Can one book a US domestic flight with AA without points, or is it points only?

Also, if I book with AA directly, do I receive Qantas Points/Status Credits?

Cheers.

Yes but you need to book directly with AA. It can't be done through QF unless it's part of your international itinerary.

Yes.

Here are the Qantas earn categories for AA coded flights:

And here are the partner airlines earning tables:

Be careful you don't book an AA flight operated by B6 (jetBlue) within the NorthEast. Pretty siure they will not earn with QF due to not being AA operated.

In general you can always book directly with any airline in the OneWorld alliance and expect to earn some QF points and status credits with them. Indeed that is the whole point of being part of an alliance, is to give you the confidence in knowing that if regardless of whether you book with American, British Airways, FinnAir, JAL, Qantas or any other OneWorld alliance you get the benefits and points accrual across the board (albeit the earning rate can vary between airlines)

One other point, travelling domestically in the US on American or Alaskan, you will have access to the various OneWorld lounges (including AA) on offer since you hold Qantas Gold status.

Qantas Frequent Flyer points and SC have been always earned on AA marketed flights in eligible booking classes irrespective of the operating carrier.

Agree, I’ve flown AA marketed AS operated (pre oneworld) and AA marketed WS operated, both earnt status credits.

I’ve seen some people comment this isn’t so for JetBlue but that wasn’t my understanding.

Oooh JetBlue operated flights on an AA codeshare earn QF Status credits? Assume we need to book with American Airlines to get that however
