I'm flying Mel-LAX return on the A380 in December and Jan. Hoping for an upgrade to PE but not holding my breath.

Can't wait to fly her!

Cheers

Anyone else in Melbourne just see the QF A380 do a city flyby with it's landing gear down?

Looked pretty good!

was shown on tele above the mcg prior to start of game.

I was at the 'G and had a great view from my M14 aisle seat; saw it fly on a low speed pass ~SE heading to the SW of the ground - following the Yarra I guess; looked cool in the clear bright blue sky. Like any large craft it seemed to be crawling - seemingly about to drop out of the sky - but it didn't.

I was on QF424 on the 26th (Friday) and we waited on the taxiway while 380 touched down. I had a pretty good view, looked impressive caught in a good old Melbourne crosswind on landing with the wings bouncing up and down while leveling the plane.

As for me flying on a 380, its not in the near future for me if I have any choice in my routing of flights. I'm happy to be on the tried and proven for a while yet....

Serfy, glad to see your mob come through - I just wish it had of been my mob who your mob beat last week...

Mr!

The one thing i love about the 380 is the fact that the wings flex up when its in the air and flex down when it hits the ground! Quite impressive indeed

As for the Hawks, dont get me started... But a good game nonetheless which is what i was after unlike last year, however i would still have been happy with last years outcome rather than this years!

Well done to the Hawks, and the fact that Crawf was playing softened the blow somewhat...

This is a normal feature of all aircraft - when on the ground, the fuselage is supported by the undercarriage, and the wings are providing zero lift, hence they sag down.

When in the air, the wings are providing the lift, and the fuselage is supported by the wings. So it isn't that the wings flex up, it is more that the fuselage is sagging in relation to the wings.

Looking at the seat map on the QF website, Prem Y is right at the back of the plane on the upper deck and J occupies most of the entire upper deck.

Surely if you are flying Prem Y or J, you don't want to be stuck at the back of the aircraft? One of the benefits of J is getting off the aircraft faster.

I'm not sure having the J lounge above the F area is a good idea. F pax maybe able to hear noises and people moving around.

I would have thought J should be spread between the upper and lower decks, nearer the main exit. Prem Y should also be infront of normal Y, not in the tail section.

Any thoughts?

The Electra or military P3 Orion as it's still flown actually has very rigid wings which hardly flex at all. .... your trivia less for the day

hi All,
I have not been able to find any reports on various experiences using the internet/email on the A380. I am flying J class in March to London so keen to find out cost and what you can actually access.
Otherwise, if anyone wants me to try different websites or inflight test/pings and scans - let me know and i will report back.

Thanks

thanks - how about the webmail and chat? anyone used it?
Looking at the onair website they say its compatible with gmail/hotmail and yahoo. I will be giving .me.com (the apple webmail) a go.
