HNL will be a 330.

The last 767 flight is QF452 on the 27th of December. Right now there are only 3 seats left....

As per my post in the other thread:

Re: Final flights for the B767

Of course pending the usual disclaimer of operational reasons, this is the plan for the final B767 flights:

· Brisbane-Perth: November 17, QF651
· Perth-Canberra: November 17, QF718
· Melbourne-Canberra-Melbourne: November 30, QF822 & QF821
· Brisbane-Adelaide-Brisbane: December 9, QF663 & QF656
· Brisbane-Melbourne: December 9, QF635
· Melbourne-Adelaide-Melbourne: December 17, QF683 & QF686
· Melbourne-Brisbane: December 25, QF636
· Brisbane-Darwin-Brisbane: December 26, QF824 & QF825
· Sydney-Brisbane-Sydney: December 27, QF508 & QF517
· Sydney-Melbourne-Sydney: December 27, QF447 & QF452

Hope to share this milestone with some of you, and the above timetable helps anyone who can't make the final scheduled flight on 27 December. :)

Don't give them any ideas.

Ironically, it was Qantas that gave me the idea. I read in Australian Aviation many years ago a short anecdote regarding the final Qantas 707 service in 1979. Demand from aviation buffs for seats on the final service was very high, and apparently some wag in QF's Auckland office sent a telegram to Sydney suggesting a 747 operate the service instead.

This was probably printed in Australian Aviation in the late 1990s, I haven't been able to find anything online to back it up.

I expect there will be quite a lot of crew on the flight too. I considered buying a ticket...but I figured 7,800 hours was enough. I've never heard a number on just how many people have crewed the aircraft over the years, but it must be a substantial percentage of the pilot body.

What will the actual flight crew on the last 767 flight do after dropping the airplane at VCV career wise?

What will the actual flight crew on the last 767 flight do after dropping the airplane at VCV career wise?

A range of things.

Some have slots in the same rank on other types (with many already on the courses). I think there were only two 767 Captains with enough seniority to go to the 380 in command, so those who have managed to keep their rank are off to the 737 and 330.

For many others though, it will be off to another type, but a demotion to go with it. Many will ultimately be displacing people from other fleets, so the effects will ripple on.

Some have taken VR, and I expect quite a few will have been talking to Qatar/Emirates etc.

Overall, extremely messy rearrangement of hundreds of careers.

how many 767 pilots are left by retirement of 767?

I don't know. They've been moving people for the past few months, but I expect it will take the better part of a year before all the dancing stops.

Why did some pilots like yourself JB successfully make the transition from 767 to 747 to 380 while it seems some get left behind? Advance planning, favoured by company, serendipity?

Seniority...aka...old age. There's only a limited amount of slots, so if a whole bunch disappear, as has happened, the overall pie is a lot smaller.
