On the Qantas website I can book SYD-HKT (via BKK) return.

But I get the #66002 error when trying to do a multi city SYD-HKT to Thailand and BKK-SYD back from Thailand.

I want to fly back from BKK.

Is this bookable by phone?

Thanks

Craig

I tried that out and got an error too. I suspect you'll have to book through an agent or over the phone with Qantas. I would imagine that Qantas would waive the phone booking assistance fee as you're legitimately unable to do this booking online.

Thanks I'll see how I go with doing a phone booking.

Qantas multi-city engine is very "temperamental" - I often need to phone and yes the fee is waived (don't hesitate to ask if not offered).

I would go as far as to say it's more very temperamental, as well as slow, repetitive and generally not user friendly..

Though surprisingly not as bad as some other airlines...

Is it just me or has the multi-city engine gotten even worse in the last few days? I now get 66002 errors on even very basic multi-city trips, predominantly with a Trans Tasman leg. There's no issues with timing or QF flying the routes, or doing any fancy positioning flights, just simple sectors failing to book as a multi-city. I'm talking really simple ones like CBR-AKL -- AKL-BNE -- BNE-CBR. Used to have no problem doing these and much more.

Of course can easily book individual legs, but that's more paperwork, higher credit card fees, and flights on different booking numbers which can be an issue.

Temporary glitch or change of approach?

I took a multi trip in June and booked some time in April/May - the error kept occurring then and I suspect it's a glitch, and not temporary. When I rang with the error message number, all was easy and cost was waived.

I'm getting a same error when trying to book AKL-HKG with a range of domestic Australian transfers. Even a simple MEL or SYD overnight isn't working. Is anyone else having a similar problem?

I am planning a trip to London, Frankfurt then Amsterdam and then home to Sydney. Each time I get a variety of prices coming up... Definitely seems to be playing up the last few days as I looked at booking it a month or two ago and didn't have these issues. I think it could be going from Sale to Flexi but a simple refresh seems to solve it...

Some websites charge sector fares for trips that should permit a free stopover. I think you have too many stops in Europe for your journey to price as a return if flying ia DXB but it's possible you could do a QF/BA combo via SIN. I doubt you'll get the QF website to price it but you could call BA you could have SYD/xSIN/LHR/FRA /- AMS/xLHR/SIN/SYD.

With the above itinerary LHR is the stopover on the outbound legs with the destination/turnaround point half FRA & half AMS as there would be a surface sector on that ticket then just buy a sector fare FRA/AMS. On the inbound you could have a stopover in SIN or even HKG.

You could always enter a few scenarios into www.jetabroad.com.au and see what it comes up with or call a reputable TA and see what options they can give you.

I am flying SYD - BKK- DBX then FRA in September coming back LHR - DBX - BKK - SYD on a Qantas ticket and the multicity search gave me the error message and when I phoned up to book I had the fee waived as the telephone person asked what message number and zap it was waived. It has played up for too long!!!
