The slight flaw is you’ve just missed the train to airport if you get off and re-enter at Mascot, and you need to wait for the next train. But if you’re super early and have time, there’ll be another in about 10 mins.

No, because I would need to be over 1 week of parking at T1 to go over the Uber price.

And the other consideration is that catching a bus then train then return with luggage would be a minimum 5hr round trip assuming I can catch a bus on return which only runs a few times a day

Which bus only runs a few times a day ? I thought the car park shuttle rang frequently?

I suspect the bus route is question is suburban/rural, so reduced frequency from that typical for more central urban routes.

Offpeak, ADL is the cheapest, either with the Admet card or a mobile device, or debit/credit card, at $2.60.
MEL gone up to $5.70 on 01/01/26.
Maybe BNE takes the main one, for now, at $0.50 per trip, does that mean a change at Toombul to the city, from the airport by bus is $0.50, but then, on the change to the train, is that a transfer, or a new trip, so all up its $1.00.

But then, for ease of use, for PER, esp if using VA or any other non QFi/QFd flights, the train under the control tower, to the city is the easiest.
BNE is cheap, but from the 590 drop off point at the former Toombul s/c, or Toombul int, you still have to walk a bit to Toombul station to get the cheap train to the city.

Well the cheapest public transport to/from any airport today (and every other Saturday/Sunday for last month and this month) is using one of the public buses to/from MEL. $0.00 to anywhere in the state.
