They'll probably request that you perform the product change online via internet banking - that's what they asked me to do.
very easy to do - click on your current credit card, then 'Change your credit card type' and then select this product. Mine was processed within a couple of days.
Did you get ask to pay annual fee straight away after the transfer?

Does anyone know what the transfer rate is from ANZ reward points to velocity?

I also wonder if you can use this card like what the 28degrees card used to be like:

"ANZ will also waive the cash advance fee if you use your ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures account to withdraw actual cash from a branch or ATM located overseas. A cash advance fee will apply to any other cash advances on your account. ATM operator fees may apply."

Also, does anyone know what rate ANZ gives for forex? Is the AMEX rate comparable with the VISA rate and the MC rate?

i was told the rate is the ANZ rate as per website. from other users it seems to be pretty close to rates on xe.

Almost all credit cards use the exchange rate applied by the schemes... ie visa, MasterCard or Amex. The only difference is typically the % fee charged or where the card is issued (ie visa could theoretically use different rates for European cards compared with American ones).

I am unaware of any examples where the issuer sets the rate themselves in Australia.

I notice on the website you can pay $170 instead when you don't include the $55 rewards fee, does anyone know if it includes the free flight, or can you remove rewards fee after

I'm using the card in South Africa and the Amex declines but visa works
ANZ say it should work
Any thoughts

Whilst they split the fee, I don't think you can choose to opt out of rewards and not pay the rewards fee. One of the reasons they split the fee is so they can charge the rewards fee on support cards.

I have used both Amex and Visa extensively over a 5 week period in a dozen countries/cities in Europe in October and November this year, some merchants/Hotels accepted Amex while some did not, but Visa was accepted every time, its hit and miss with Amex.
At first I was thinking something wrong with the Amex, but later realised that it does work in some places but not other.

I have been reading the T&C's of this card and the ANZ rewards black visa.

T&C's for travel rewards card say that bonus points are only available for those who have not held a travel rewards card in previous twelve months. Black visa says bonus points only available to those who have not held an ANZ rewards card in previous twelve months.

So the way I read it I could get the Black first and then the travel rewards and get both sets of BP's but not the other way around. Has anyone encountered this strange anomaly?

It seems to read that way but not sure if that is the intent. You can always try it and let us know how you go.

A couple of data points.

ANZ call centre confirmed that you can hold this Rewards Travel Adventures card and still be eligible for sign up bonus on the regular series of rewards cards. I have a few months to go until my exclusion 12 months is up on their rewards card bonus.

I also just booked a Sydney-Perth return flight in late October. Plenty of availability and a very easy process. The call centre also reminded me about my two lounge passes. Unlike other cards you need to order these and they are mailed to you. They do not have names and can be used by anybody in the next 12 months. So if you are planning on cancelling then at least order you passes.

Great deal 40K points, Perth flights plus 2 x lounge for $225.

Good info. My +1 has this card, so which lounges (airlines) are they affiliated with?

Only the Virgin Domestic lounge and only if on a Virgin flight I believe.

Booked my Y2 free flight and lounge passes then cancelled the card. They, with some minor coercion, gave a (10/12) pro rata refund. Win.

This card was great until they capped it at $2k per month.
