Problems getting Spg gold after one stay with world MasterCard?

Hi folks

Reference this offer:
World MasterCard® | Starwood Preferred Guest®

I've registered and completed the stay requirements for the gold status. However it's been more than 2 months since the stay and nothing has happened. Anyone offer any advice on who I can contact to chase it?

If I pay for a stay with my world MasterCard and assuming they hi out my upgrade to gold within a reasonable time, if I book a more basic room with points, will I, subject to availability, be able to receive an upgrade on my rewards stay?

Haven't made an SPG redemption yet. How easy is it to redeem? Is it as complicated as getting J flights on FF redemptions or much easier?

Sorry for all the noob questions.

Gold doesn't get you an upgrade to a higher room class, just a "better" room within the same category.

That's definitely the letter of the T+Cs. In Tokyo and Bali I got the "better" room deal, in Nice, Sapporo and Singapore have had an actual upgrade.

Definitely can't count on a real upgrade, which is probably fair for such easy to attain status.

So I have now been upgraded to Gold based on just one nights stay which is great because I have already booked 7 nights as part of my holiday next year with probably a few more still to be booked

When I actually check in, do I need to ask for the Gold benefits or will they just offer them automatically?

I have held it on and off for a number of years, locally it's useless but in Asia the upgrades are good.

My experience ( internationally ) is they will offer automatically. You'll know if they are not aware as you need to choose your benefit ( I'd say go the free Wi-Fi )

I realise and really, the they are giving it away it will soon become the new basic service offering. That was why I wondered how direct you needed to be, at the very least should get free internet/gift etc on top of the bonus points
