I never abused mine, it's a shame a few bad apple ruins this benefit for everyone. However Amex could impose a limit on the dining benefit but instead just removes it all together, just yet annother deval to the Platinum card.

got the email.
sniff sniff.
a reason to have kept the citi free for life visa signature :p
which I cancelled last Xmas, after getting the amex platinum.. boo

Just saw the notice on my statement, along with notice of another benefit removal - the "Preferred Golf Membership". I didn't really use it (don't play golf), but just a heads up for others who may have valued that benefit.

Hmm, that would seem to be the third devaluation in as many months, wonder what July will bring...

Four weeks to go before non-lounge benefits cease

We use the PP with Citi Prestige which I considered cancelling for a while but I am becoming more glad I didn't as it seems it stays with that card. We use it flying domestic and to have a decent meal at a restaurant before heading to the SQ lounge for international travel.
I was going to apply for the Plat card in September after my 18 months is up, but I am not feeling the Amex love now...I am looking for hotel status, especially Hilton, which was given on Citi but has been axed. We have a USA trip coming up and I like the breakfast perk. Any suggestions?
Do you still think that the Plat is "worth it"? We have the Explorer/Edge combo which is obviously not as grand as it once was either.

I tried to use PP at Cafe Vue MEL but was denied because "machine wasn't working". Not sure if I was just unlucky or if it is a common ocurrence.

They should be able to process it manually! Bit like the old credit card swipe machines. This happened to me once at Chicken Confidential at SYD T1.

Agree. They should do this manually. Maybe there's more to this?

Just seeking clarification,,, with Citi’s PP card the limit is $36 for cardholder and paying extra for guest?

No, it's $36 per card holder and 1 free guest, so $72 all up. Or two entries to the lounge. Or both as it's "unlimited".

For old times sake: Wok on Air SYD QF Domestic.

Was fun while it lasted. RIP PP restaurants

I have been using this unlimited PP benefit via a BOQ Specialist card and have found it incredibly useful, especially out of Sydney T2 and to a lesser extent T3, with weekly, sometimes twice weekly roundtrips.

No changes communicated to me from BOQS so far (and they have been quite good with advising of other card changes), so on paper, it should continue.

Although in a rather ominous sign, I was speaking to a T3 Bar Roma duty manager this morning who tells me that their restaurant (and probably the others as I think they are all owned by the same entity) will not be renewing their contract with PP in month or so either.

We will see come September!

Otherwise its back to slumming it in the QF, VA lounges, or the Rex lounge if you are stuck on Tiger or a regional.

Oh nooo.. If that's true I wonder why. I didn't think it cost them extra to accept PP, in fact every time when my bill total comes short of the $36 limit the waiter always ask if I wanted something else to bring it up closer to the limit, so it appears that they receive $36 from PP regardless if my spend is less.

It is Aug 1... and can confirm that the Amex PP still works at TGM (Japanese/Korean restaurant) at Changi. Mostly because this is a "set menu" offered and not "dining credit" value offered.

How can we check that it "Still work" ?

I think TGM is actually classified as a lounge.
