How does Priority Club Priority Check-In work? I've just ticked over to Gold status and I've found myself in some stupidly long queues when checking in the last couple of times.

At hotels with a lounge, you can check-in at the lounge. I was directed to the lounge for check-in at the CP in Kuala Lumpur and at the IC in Miami recently.

Where there is no lounge, I think it is just matter of joining the queue.

Most hotels don't seem to have priority check-in so it makes no difference.

Off the top of my head, can't even think of one that does.

Intercontinetal at Burswood does, and priority checkout for PC guests as well, HI Darling Harbour and HI Gold Coast have special lines for PC members.

No priority check-in at Rooty Hill.... although you never need to queue to check-in anyway.

Several properties I've stayed at have a blue sign (looks like your membership card) on one end of the check in counter for priroity club members to register. In reality I usually find it faster just to join a queue. I do get my Priority Card out and and make sure it's easy to see - this has resulted in me being 'called over' by other staff members or directed to the club level for check in.

As Plat Priority Club members, at IC in Singapore last month - a staff member was waiting for us (at the front door) and escorted us to our room for a personal check in - very nice touch. Converesly, the night before we stayed at IC Burswood and, although they do have priority club check in - every body was using this desk as it was the only one operating. Line of 3 people but took 25 minutes to check in!

The rooms on the executive floor are OK - have recently been renovated and getting closer to what you would expect of a HI. The standard rooms are only average.

The restaurant has a limited selection of meals.

But... there is always the RSL next door - particularly on karaoke night... good for a laugh

I stayed in Melbourne the other night and once they identified me the priority checkin breezed me through. They had CC and details all recorded and handed me the key and drinks invite and pointed me onwards. Almost too quick to catch my breath.

Excellent :!:

THAT is what I was expecting from priority checkin! They already have my Name, Address, CC number. Get me to sign and verify, maybe sight the card and make sure it matches and send me off. If they have the keys pre-programmed and the card printed it should be 1-2minutes tops.

Been a while since I had a drink invite at any of the properties in Melbourne :( I must have a big black mark against my name

Crowne Plaza in SF has a separate check-in desk (look for the Priority Club sign) plus 2 executive floors (you need your room card in the lift to get access - it got me a few smart-alecky comments from other guests!). Daily drink vouchers and free high-speed internet in the room plus the usual 10% points bonus. Otherwise no other discernible extras. Other PC hotels that I've stayed at in the US have similar benefits. In my experience, the US hotels seem to offer more extras than the Australian ones.

as a plat and checking into CP in MEL, it was nothing like what you've described here..

i paid for a room on the executive floor and didn't get the "upgrade", altho i was told i did and the upgrade was to a river view room on the same level.

hmm.. the decoration gave me the creeps and promptly booked and checked into hilton the next night.

Interesting.

This stay was at the HI Flinders Lane. No upgrade, though the hotel was pretty much full and everything else was great.

Which Hilton did you transfer too and how were you treated? There are some well documented problems at Hilton on the Park, though I've been offered special treatment at my next stay.

It was Hilton on the park.

I was upgraded to the executive floor (19th) the time where i left CP after one night. The room was newish but both bathroom and A/C seems 70's.

Had another stay there the week after and was upgraded to a corner suite on the 5th floor.

No wine or chocalate (per FT thread you had quoted) for me in either occasions and had to leg it to the lounge to pick up some water as the same bottle of water in the room would set you back $6!!!!

Great.

You probably picked my posts from FT, so all I can say is when they're good they're great and when they're bad they're really bad :!:

Good to see we have not strayed OT here at all :!:
