Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Must admit, I have been more open about my intentions to spend time overseas with colleagues at work and friends. No one has told me they think it's a bad idea. Some are curious as to why but I think they understand and are in the process of moving on from COVID themselves. Perhaps I and others in this thread who have been overseas or are planning imminent travel are just a few months ahead of the curve.
With less than 3 weeks before we fly to the UK, I am more worried about catching covid here and disrupting our departure, than I am about catching it there.

I have a short Hawaiian trip booked for June.
My concern is testing positive whilst in Hawaii. What the heck do I do then ?

Still pondering a UK trip for two weeks in Nov/Dec ,however again my concern is testing positive coming home.
Really hoping those tests are soon no longer required

So stay low and keep well. At least you won't need to test just to get into the UK but I guess that depends on your transit?

Getting travel insurance would be a good start!

Will be hermits in the last week or so, and as flying QF1 don't have any issues with transit. Had breakfast this week with a friend recently recovered from Covid and Mrsoatek and I agreed that it should be our last walk on the wild side if possible before flying out.

Unfortunately the airlines aren't that stupid. Less people travelling will mean less flights so more space is not a given.

Most are freight subsidised so alot of very empty planes still flying and making money at the moment, so you can get lucky.

I am not sure that we need to be too pessimistic re International tourists. In the last 2 weeks 6 Irish medical registrars have begun working here in Tassie and they report more are coming. So far they love the place. Once testing is not needed I think the numbers will steadily increase.

I'm the only person in my immediate workplace that went overseas over Christmas.

Almost all of them got covid over the break. I didn't.

Weird how things work. My husband and I spend 4 weeks in the USA pre Christmas and into mid January, mainly in New York. We went to restaurants, shows, on the subway etc etc like normal (apart from wearing a mask). Whilst we were away our son at home in Australia tested positive (triple vaccinated) and ironically after all our adventures we tested negative at Lax prior to departure.
