Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Sweden just made Australia High risk...

I wonder if travelling from London to Sweden that I will be ok....

After confirming that Argentina, Australia, and Canada have reported an increase in the number of infections, Swedish authorities announced that they decided to remove these territories from the list of countries that are exempted from the entry ban. Such a decision will take effect on January 31

Also if you are someone who can usually WFH you can likely work remotely from your ISO as very few people who get covid actually experience significant symptoms. Just make sure you have your VPN details with you.

And make sure you wouldn't be contravening the terms of, for example, a tourist visa.

I invite people to go back and read the first few pages of this thread.

We were all so wrong with our "Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted" with even the most pessimistic having everything back to normal (what's that any more) by now.

Cove was pretty much on the mark.

Unless there’s a lethal new variant it’s all slowly grinding back to normal.

My employer has just announced international travel is back from May for business travel.
Any mention or consideration of those who may not feel comfortable doing so?

Unlikely to be an issue, people travel for work to attend conferences and training on tourist visas all the time. You are being paid by your Aussie employer not taking a job from a local. As long as you follow iso rules its doubtful any foreign government is going to care that you joined some teams meetings and sent some emails and wrote some word or excel documents for 7 days it takes to get a med clearance, its not like you can be out doing touristy things.

Well there is the BA.2 variant, essentially v2 of Omicron

Which is already here, has been since December. But since we now only genome sequence icu cases we know not how much of each type omicron is circulating. It wont stop more and more people travelling.

I am missing Marina del Rey and Mrscove is missing London. We will both be ready to travel by 2023.
Our two sons want to get going in 2022.
We are all triple vaxxed and locked down in PERth.
Not flying anywhere has saved us quite a few frequent flyer points.

Hope you can get travelling again soon.

I'm thinking about doing my 2nd trip to London since the borders reopened. I went late last year and am thinking of doing another trip in the middle of the year.

I did go through some QFF points with my upgrades. It'll take me a while to earn those back again.

My plans are firming up for March.

Flying MEL-SIN-IST on SQ. Then travelling on to Spain, possibly Croatia, then UK and Ireland. Then QR DUB-DOH-MEL.

Testing requirements for the entire trip are currently the following;
1) Supervised RAT to satisfy SQ transit
2) PCR or Supervised RAT to enter Australia.

Pick your destinations carefully, be flexible, as long as things don't melt down with COVID any further (and I doubt they will from here) then things are becoming easier. Only the long hauls are booked for now, internal stuff can wait until closer in - again, flexibility.
