Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

We were hoping on a trip to Singapore and Thailand in August next year.Had our F awards booked on SQ.Yesterday SQ announced no F seats until October 2021.Wonder when we will be notified.

SQ likes to do things in date order. I'd be on the blower asap to secure alternative seats if you still want them for a later date... before they get snapped up by those called first.

I think our state politicians seriously need to learn how to live COVID safe and able to manage any outbreaks

Some states like QLD and WA unfortunately either do not have the capacity, systems or processes to do so or they do - but just don't have the confidence in being able to control some community cases when they pop up...

They also know they have stupidly released restrictions so quickly and so far that most of their population don't even think covid exists in their state anymore and go about the business as such, not socially distancing, not acting in a covidsafe manner. Its just incredible, when only a few blocks over there is a quarantine hotel literally ready to spawn a cluster instantly at anytime.... I tell you, it would RIP through Brisbane if it got out like it did in SA!

If they don't have the capacity, systems or processes, then why don't they copy those from NSW, which has the gold standard? Couldn't they ask help from ADF or Federal counterparts for additional support?

If they don't have confidence, then does that mean those states are just 'inferior' and as the result residents from those states will need to live in fear permanently whenever a natural disaster or pandemic hits? I think Australia should be equal no matter which states you are in, and if they don't have confidence, find confidence, stop making scare campaigns about COVID and learn to live with it!

An industry you wouldn't have thought of much in terms of being impacted by less international travellers, mobile networks.

With net migration reducing from ~200,000 to zero or a negative number (forecast for 2020/21 financial year is -72,000) then this makes sense. Many other industries will be impacted as a result.

Real estate seems to be very strong across Australia though, you think there might be a lag before that struggles too?

I guess that most of us are too attached to zeroes/doughnuts that the thought of anything that may increase the risk even a tiny bit [ eg, traffic light quarantine system] - seems unpalatable politically.
When it comes down to it, there would only be a minority who have family overseas/interstate.
😢
I believe many govt decisions re borders are more politically motivated than health related.

Not in freestanding houses in the 'desirable' areas.... no matter what happens the inner city ring (about +10KM) of the major cities they barely ever suffer and people there can usually afford to hold on and weather any blip.

Apartments / Units - yikes.

Outer suburb / concrete jungle new suburbs - yikes.

Getting quite attached to our zeroes in Singapore too (6 days in a row now). The problem is the government keeps on telling us not to expect that to continue as they expect to be higher, but low levels, of community transmission as they open up the economy in a measured way.

But putting aside my selfish desire (to not have to do 14 days quarantine on return to Australia and not to share a plane with people who are potentially coming from high infection rate places like Europe ), it would be a good boost to the tourist industry if visitors were accepted from very low risk places like Singapore.

Interesting, no F that far fwd.. Thats been the case on flts ex Aust that we been looking at (mostly all A350s). That includes flts thru to Europe for May (admittedly optimistic for border openings), or July (becoming more likely). Suspect 'no F' has been extended because of yday's announced refit of remaining A380s to new J and suites ?

17 Nov Today - Exactly one month till the current travel ban ends on 17 Dec and then gets extended again to 17 Mar

Please, 1 case can trigger multiple states to shut their domestic borders for and if Australia opens any bubbles, WA must approve of it first:eek:

What hope is there of any bubble at all in this wonderful new world!

PM can travel wherever, thats fine, I cant see my parents in the UK, honestly blood boiling
Old news.....And he avoids hotel quarantine. PM was also going to visit PNG until there was a political unrest of sorts there.
