Re: Another Qantas drama on nonews!

On the surface, the handling of the situation by QF seems a bit poor. You'd think that they could handle the rebooking of passengers at the airport.

QF648 was eventually cancelled at around 8am per time today and it EBJ currently has no further scheduled flights today.

Yes and no - Yes it would be ideal from a customer service point of view, but there's a lot more telephone staff available than staff at the airport so it's probably quicker to call.

Unfortunately for PAX being told to go home without a booking is the final confirmation that you're not going anywhere anytime soon. :(

I think if i'm ever in that situation I'd call QF while standing in the rebooking queue and see which one gets a solution first.

Fed-up passengers revolt over flight delay

More fun at Australia's worst airport..

Fed-up passengers revolt over flight delay | Travel News | News.com.au

POLICE have been called to Perth's domestic airport to calm outraged passengers stranded overnight after their Qantas flight failed to leave.

One radio listener, John, told radio station 6PR the A330 that passengers were screaming and yelling and Qantas staff called police after ongoing delays.

Sorry Bambbbam2, this is already on this thread ...

Last Friday (03/07/09) afternoon my Perth to Sydney flight was 4.5 hours late departing...

Not too bad at all - last year in May one Perth to Sydney flight I was on was 15 hours late.

It's during delays like this that you need the CL and WP status...

Something this unruly could only happen in a place like PER....for two reasons, of course: (a) it's Perth ;) and (b) it's PER T2, one of the most poorest excuses for an airport in the nation (at least when it is managed by Perth Airports and run by QF).

I'm surprised a QF staff member did not get assaulted, shot, spat on, slapped, cursed with some odd voodoo or anything else considering how 'unruly' the crowd was.

As for the stupid b**** who complained that she missed out on her first AFL game - ever heard of other airlines (if she was that desperate to go, that is)? A bit odd to be a "keen Collingwood fan" but had never gone to an AFL game before in your life.

I see that some random television reporter due to fly was also caught in the mess - I can guess that accelerated this item making the news.

I wonder if some of the status pax tried going to the QP to try and organise things.

Finally, seems that A330s (in fact, almost any A3xx series) are really getting bad raps all over. Anyone think that Airbus will be in hot water any time soon?

I don't seem to think Airbus would be in any hot water any time soon. 2 accidents (1 unknown reasons and other seems like pilot error/weather) and suddenly they are seen as unsafe.

I for one wouldn't hesitate stepping onto an Airbus (not that we get much choice international from PER)

Not just accidents, but several issues related to onboard controls amongst others for selected A330s and A320s around the world. I think even a QF A380 has been under some scrutiny.

I wouldn't have many qualms either, but as we know the public love making absurd causal (or rather not) relationships between recent hype and apparent current misfortune.

Airbus delivers first A320 assembled in China

Airbus just gave me another reason to prefer Boeing.

I am a "keen St Kilda fan" but have never seen them play live, in fact I have only ever watched 2 AFL games live, but may get a chance to see them in Sydney in a few weeks time.

Now if I had pre-paid for flights, accommodation and tickets to the game then I would be extremely disappointed....

Good time to be a QP member! Did it stay open all night?

Good question. When I had a plane return to PER once (was on it's way to BNE) the QP was normally not closed, but in "cleaning/maintenance" mode e.g. no food etc. and due to our plane turning back they put everything out into full swing which was commendable.
