I am sure someone here will have the answer to my question.

My flight out of Brisbane was delayed and QF didn't hold the flight to LAX I was connecting to.

That was ok they rebooked me on a later a flight and altered the AA flight I was conecting to.

Further delays meant I missed that AA connection as well. When I arrived at LAX AA had no more seats available to my destination so put me on a US Air flight.

Great service I arrived at my final destination only about 90 minutes later than planned.

My question is though, do you usually get points for the sector where this happens or does it usually mean you miss out?

I am not too concerned either way, it wouldn't amount to many points anyway, but I am curious.

Assuming that you refer to the Qantas FF scheme...

I have had an involuntary reroute off of a QF flight onto an NZ flight and received the points ok; you may well be ok with a reroute off of AA

If they don't post automatically, I think a quick letter to Qantas FF advising of the invol reroute due to delays and requesting points for the AA flight would work.

Attach copies of your itinerary and your boarding passes if you still have them.

(I havn't been in this situation before, but that's pretty standard practice for most airlines)

About 9 weeks ago I was rebooked from an XLD QF flight AKL-WLG onto an AirNZ flight.

I asked for and received "Original Routing Credit", strangely enough with the XLD Qantas flight number (and a ~).

This was done by an email, with a scan of the AirNZ BP and the oringinal E-Ticket email receipt from Qantas attached.

I sent it to To: [email protected]

Subject: Request for Original Routing Credit (<PNR>/QFF <QFF Number>)

Hi,

As per the booking attached, I travelled from Auckland to Wellington last weekend. However, due to the cancellation of QF4003 on Saturday, Qantas had me fly on NZ405.

A scanned image of my Air New Zealand Boarding Pass is attached.

I have completed my travel and would like you to credit me with the Frequent Flyer Points and Status Credits I would have received if I had travelled on QF4003 on <Date> as originally booked.

Cheers, ...

I got re-booked by AY on SQ earlier in the year, a quick fax with the boarding pass of the SQ flight and the email telling me about the bump from AY and it was all sorted out immediatly and simply just credited without question.

I got moved from Qantas to Rex once and got the credit after a phone call to QFF.

Last year I got QFF SCs for flights on EK, CX and LX. My original booking was for AY flights but one was delayed around 9 hours and the other cancelled. I send an email off to QF and requested to be credited original flights with copy of boarding pass and e-ticket.

The points still haven't credited to my account, seems I will have to make a phone call or write a letter.
Thanks for your comments
