If this call centre you speak off is called Qantas Premium Call centre then I already had that as a SG. Calls were also answered instantly.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to being able to tell the check-in clerks, yes I am allowed in this queue (Happened when checking in for a CX flight while flying J, got told rather rudely "The economy queue is over there", she quickly ran away when I told her I was flying Business, no apologies though.)

Most missed benefits since downgrade:

1. F Lounges. Especially in SYD/MEL but also DXB/HKG/NRT/KUL/LHR.
2. Arrivals lounge access domestically and in HKG/LHR.
3. Extra award availability.
4. WP Shadow.
5. Better status matches.

OT but....

oh love the "profiling" - gee you obviously look like you should be in Y.... I've had that happen - in the F line... the red face and apologies upon showing my booking for F... suggest you would have had similar

Upgrade to J from Y+ when travelling to LAX from MEL. Was with my partner who is QF PS on the same PNR, both got the OPUP. Fantastic F lounges and F check in a great bonus.

Travelling to Wellington and Singapore next month in Y so I'm looking forward to seeing how I'm treated as WP in Y!

Congratulations

love the F lounges QF SYD and CX HKG. You can't get into the Concorde room T5 LHR (QF must sort that out and keep all those BA equivalents out of our lounges in Australia or make BA give us equal entry...but I digress) but you can get into the First Lounge (which is nothing on QF lounges), but it's the best place to be at LHR.

love the domestic J lounges esp in CBR

lots if Platinums now, so upgrades not common (was on OOL to SYD on Sun and saw the list, there were 5 of us) but love getting the exit row on domestic flights

^^ This right here

Also

6. Domestic J lounges
7. Requesting seats for award bookings (sort of same as 3 above)

I haven't personally had an upgrade since becoming WP but my wife has had one MEL-SYD. I do enjoy the csm coming to have a chat here and there.

You will enjoy WP, congrats!

What are everyone's chances of getting to sit inside the Domestic QP or J lounge when not flying that day? It would be good to sit there while I wait for my mum to arrive domestically.

Technically not allowed but it depends. IME just waving the card is usually all that is required but occasionally they do check for a flight. Chances are much better than 50-50 so I'd say worth a shot.

Ask nicely or be confident and walk through by flashing your card.

In Singapore which OW lounge would you recommend when departing Terminal 1 (QF Flight)? Because I am now OW Emerald & WP I would like to experience the best lounge in Singapore when I fly out of there.

Thanks,
calmelb

p.s. Also when is my AFF Profile going to update with my new status? Considering I reached WP on Monday yet it still says gold?

IMHO, the QF lounge is the best, unless you are there at super peak time (just before the 7pm flights) when it can be crazily busy...

As for profile updating, that's one for the gods - whoops, I meant mods

Reading this makes me sad, currently sitting at 1125 SC's with no more work travel. Flying to LAX in a week's time and I'm very tempted to do a status run before hand to enjoy the fruits of the F lounge. It would be costly though :(.

If you have time, flying between LAX - LAS - SFO gives 40 SC in F , I just booked one way LAX - LAS in August for $166 USD.

... at which time, or at any time, head over to the EK lounge. if you are flying QF.

Which would be more costly - a status run, or going to an upmarket café for a light meal, some champagne and then going for a 20 minute massage/facial somewhere? Everything that's offered in the F lounge, you can buy for yourself elsewhere if you really want it :)

This is just me but although you are right in that you can get all those things cheaper elsewhere, for me its about the entire experience/package, right from seat selection, to F checkin, to express path, to F lounge and all the things in it, to F boarding (where available), to CSM greeting, to 'extras' onboard like noise cancelling headsets(when travelling Y), to better points upgrade chances, to (hopefully) priority baggage, to 100% bonus points. There is probably more that I have missed but when I talk about the total WP experience/package that is what I think of.
That is the problem once you travel like this you can't bare to not travel like this ongoing!

Yes, but the comment I was responding to was about going on a status run to get to WP a week earlier.

Oh, and I try not to bare anything while travelling :p
