Had a very interesting flight the other day - was on a Charter for work flying down to Brisbane in a large commercial airliner (details will remain confidential for C-I-C reasons) that was approximately 75% full.

We landed at BNE and offloaded at the Private Airwing where DHL now operate from. Return leg - Passenger manifest was only 1 person - Mr Simsy!

Not only did I have the entire plane to myself, I had 6 hosties taking care of me, served me an AMAZING meal and had a great chat with.

Perhaps the most exciting thing for me, was that for 95% of the flight, the coughpit door remained firmly open. I had a great view of how it all works with a Commercial during the trip which was great for someone who is doing there Pilots license in my own private time (just for the fun of it).

No pics, sorry folks, but has anyone else ever had a similar experience?

flight back tonight from Leeds to Heathrow had 32 passengers (don't know if this included crew) on an A319. Plane was empty. Staff were typical useless long term BA employees ... I could go into more details, but I'll leave the gory details out!

Previously when the Melbourne Commonwealth Games were on, I was on an extremely empty 737-800, and received an op-up to J to help with Trim issues!

I think there's a thread on this somewhere here, it rings a few bells but no time to search. I only fly the most full routes apparently.

Reading this post reminded me of a long tucked away memory. Way back when.... 1993 in my early 20's the flight was LAX to YVR with a stop in SEA. The short hop from SEA to YVR in a 767 with 6 passengers was quite an amazing experience.

a340?

....

My best was way back in 1962 - I was one of 3 on a TAA Vickers Viscount from PER to ADL. Now there's one for the nostalgia buffs on 2 counts!

Last year I was one of 3 on a Q400, wasn't bad!

Compass MkI in their very early flying days... BNE-PER (with free stopovers in SYD and MEL - seemed like a good deal to a young bloke at the time)

I only remember half a dozen of us onboard, may have been a few more but very sparsely populated.

Once was a compass flight with only four of us on board. Seated two each side for balance, along with 2 hosties and two on the flight deck.

Next was a 6am jetstar flight SYD to OOL. Only 3 on board.

SWMBO and I were the only passengers in J on a short European leg with Qatar last year. The normally excellent Qatar service was amazing in this case!

March 2003 I flew Rome - Singapore and then Singapore - Melbourne during the height of the SARS crisis. Both flights were extremely lightly loaded, particularly the SIN-MEL flight. I reckon there were no more than 20 or 30 in Y on a jumbo. We were told we could sit where ever we wanted.

Prior to arriving in SIN I had emailed the Mandarin Oriental to see whether they had any discounted rooms. They did, and offered me a suite for around $200 AUD per night. I emailed them back and told them I wasn't looking to spend that much (travelling solo on lowly graduate wages and was there for 4 nights). They asked what my budget was and I replied about $100 per night, they told me they'd do it for that!

A couple of years ago I was the only person on the upper deck in J on a QF 744 on the SYD-BNE leg of SYD-BNE-LAX. I did feel rather special. ;)

One of 8 in a 737 MEL-CBR early one afternoon a month or so back.

Scattered throughout the plane for weight distribution no doubt.

One of about 15 on Aeoflot domestic in '95. Hang gliders laid in the centre aisle, Pilot has to climb over them to get to the coughpit. We were all made to sit up the front of the aircraft because (apparently) the Yak 154 was pitch unstable. Rather overwhelming "hostie" sat behind us to make sure we didn't move. No chickens on board but I cannot remember if we had seat belts...

Flew with my sister two years ago direct Nice-Ibiza direct on IB, only the two of us in J plus one girl in Y. Can't believe they operated the flight!
I thought they'd cancelled the route, but it looks like they're doing it again this year... now on an ATR... it was an older but similar sized plane when we flew.

Best I have had is one of 4 in PE from LAX - SYD on VA. given how quick the flight loaded I reckon there would have been 100 max in Y.

Have regaled everyone with this before but I was the only passenger on a 748.
An HS-748 on 29/12/1969.Operated by FJ HIR-POM.An open bar was decreed by the captain.
