Philippine Airlines Delays/Cancellations

Philippine Airlines is normally quite punctual but on Saturday 13 February that is not the case with A333 RP-C8763 on the timetabled 1115 SYD - MNL not taking off until 1346 this afternoon and therefore not being due to arrive until 1810, 100 minutes past the usual 1630 time.

The Wednesday 17 February PR212 from SYD to MNL (due out at 1115) did not take off until 1157 and hence will not arrive until 1655, 25 minutes late. Aircraft is A340 RP-C3441.

PR210 from MEL (A330 RP-C8765) is the 1010 from MEL that today took off at 1126 with MNL arrival expected at about 1600, 35 minutes behind time.

While not in Australia, a news report briefly indicates that this afternoon or early evening a PR flight from MNL to CEB had to turn back after 10 minutes in the air due to alleged smoke affecting the plane. It was allegedly an A340 which are also used on some MNL - SYD - MNL flights (others are A330s) but not normally to MEL (A330s) or DRW and BNE (A320s although A321s during school holidays.)

No one was injured.

PR209 from MNL that arrives in MEL on Friday 1 April (A333 RP-C8762) should do so at about 0810, 50 minutes late. The returning PR210 to MNL due out at 0900 will inevitably depart late.

The thrice weekly PR222 from BNE to DRW (no traffic rights) - MNL is pretty punctual but that is not the case on Thursday 5 May.

A320 RP-C8614 took off from BNE at 1441 against a scheduled gate departure time of 1200 with arrival at DRW estimated at 1810 instead of 1600 hours. There might be an opportunity to reduce the DRW stop duration a bit.

On Friday 13 March, PR209 from MNL (A333 RP-C8765) should arrive MEL at about 0810, 50 minutes late. This will delay the 0900 return PR210.

Post 26 above should read 'May' not 'March.'

On Monday 16 May, PR211, the 0845 hours arrival ex MNL on Sunday night has been cancelled as has PR212 returning from SYD to MNL.

PR212 on Friday 27 May 2016 was delayed in its departure (as have been many other international and domestic flights) from SYD due to the strong westerlies, with takeoff of this flight at 1149 as against its 1030 timetabled pushback time. Arrival of RP-C3436, an A343, is expected at about 1740, about half an hour late.

The Monday 30 May arriving PR211 into SYD (ex MNL Sunday 29) has been cancelled as has the return PR212 SYD - MNL.

PR212, the Friday 1 July 1030 SYD - MNL did not take off until 1201. Arrival of A343 RP-C3437 is not expected until 1747, 37 minutes late but such is the level of congestion approaching this airport quite often that the predicted gate arrival time can blow out at a late stage.

The Monday morning 0845 hours arrival, PR211 in SYD on 11 July has been cancelled as has the daytime PR212 departure from SYD back to MNL.

However PR213 is due at 2225 hours this evening.

On Tuesday 19 July 2016, PR222, the first sector of BNE - MNL but in this case only BNE - DRW was airborne at 1252 compared with a pushback 1200 'high noon.' Arrival of A320 RP-C8616 in the NT capital should be at about 1641, 41 minutes late.

Friday 22 July sees PR212 (1030 SYD- MNL, A343 RP-C8763) not having been airborne until 1155, so arrival will be at least 45 minutes late at 1755.

On Wednesday 3 August, PR209, the redeye from MNL to MEL should arrive at about 0757, 37 minutes late. Aircraft is A333 RP-C8771 that on Tuesday 2 had not taken off until 2212 despite a departure time of 2115.

On Wednesday 10 August 2016, the often punctual PR210 (0900 hours MEL - MNL) did not take off until 1230, so arrival of A333 RP-C8771 is not suggested until at least 1811, 166 minutes late.

PR212 from SYD is also late and forecast into MNL at about 1752, 42 minutes late with A343 RP-C3439 as its plane.

Redeye PR211 from MNL into SYD on the morning of Friday 7 October should do so at around 0922, 37 minutes tardy, with RP-C3441, an A343, undertaking the flight.

As with CI that was the subject of my previous post, PR is a relatively low profile airline in Oz even though it operates from MNL to SYD daily and to BNE, DRW and MEL thrice weekly as well as a unique MNL - CNS - AKL routing.

On Friday 14 October, PR211, the overnight from MNL should arrive in SYD at about 0954, 69 minutes behind time. A333 RP-C8762 is the aircraft.

UPDATE: The returning PR212 departed from SYD well after its scheduled 1030 pushback, with takeoff at 1219; arrival in MNL should be at about 1706, 56 minutes late.

Due to a typhoon approaching or on parts of the major island of Luzon, PR222 has been cancelled on Sunday 16 October between BNE, DRW and MNL. The aircraft may not have left MNL as PR221 on Saturday night (15 October) but FR24 is not definitive.

PR212, the 1030 hours from SYD to MNL on Wednesday 19 October (A333 RP-C8765) did not take off until 1135 and hence will not arrive until at least 1643 this afternoon, 33 minutes tardy.

On Sunday 23 October, the 1030 SYD - MNL (PR212) did not take off until 1145. A343 RP-C3439 should arrive at 1700 hours, 50 minutes late. This contrasts with A33 RP-C8760 on PR210, the 0945 hours MEL - MNL that took off and 0953 and which is about an hour early, being likely to arrive at 1440.
