Qantas have listed flight QF568 PER-SYD dep 2305 also JQ989 have the same flight listed dep 2305. Obviously the same aircraft which is the A330-200

Who does operate this flight? Not looking forward to a JQ flight without nibbles, if it is operated by them. The aircraft seems to be a Qantas AC being a -200

I don't know where to reference it to find out.

Is there anyone familiar with these flight numbers.

Thanks

rob

QF568 sounds like a QF operated flight. Generally JQ operated ones are QF5xx_ (i think it is 5) but it is a 4 digit flight number. Also i'm assuming you mean its an A330-200 which JQ don't operate on that leg, they are international.

Where do you see the Jetstar reference (the only flights on JQs website that I can see are on their own metal).
Both the Qantas and Jetstar websites uses colour coded tails to designate who is the operating carrier on codeshares.

I also don't believe the JQ operates any widebodies on this route.

A quick check on the Qf website shows that it is operated by Qantas. There are very specific tail emblems indicating the operating carrier.

QF568 is the Qantas operated red-eye (equipment varies )
JQ989 is the Jetstar operated red-eye (A320)

They are two different flights

I thought that JQ only had the A330-300 the remainder were the smaller A320.

Qantas PDF flight timetable has a little symbol next to the flight which indicates its operated by JQ. http://www.qantas.com.au/flightinfo/qf_pdfTimetable.pdf page 33/43

It also comes up as a A330-300 series. If your really keen to know.

Just because flights are scheduled to leave at the same time doesn't mean they are the same flight. The QF flight is more than likely a 330 (swapping between -200/300) and the JQ flight is a 320-200.

So QF operates their flight, and JQ operates the other flight.

And as for the 330's - JQ only have the -200's. QF have a mixture of the -200 and -300's.

The QF codeshare flights operated by JQ metal are a 4 digit flight number beginning with 5 with the last three digits being the actual JQ flight number ie for the JQ metal red eye it would be QF5989.

The JQ codeshare flights operated by QF metal are a 4 digit flight number beginning with 6 with the last three digits being the actual QF flight number ie for the QF metal red eye it would be JQ6568.

True. was on that flight 2 days ago. It was definitely not codeshared with JQ. The codeshare was with MAS. The flight is Q metal and is, well on my flight, the A330-300. So presume it may be the same.

Not sure about MAS, but China Eastern codeshare on the QF service (MU8412)

Well have picked up something from this thread. What had me was they departed at the same time.

Looking to spend some time in the lounge before departure. BTW whats the domestic lounge food like?

It's a bit tricky when they depart at the same time as DRW/SYD experience the same thing when the QF829 codeshares as JQ6829 but JQ have their own flight some days JQ671 which codeshares as QF5671.

Now Qantas has changed A/C for the flight over from the 747 to 767.

I also have a nice J booking coming up which was meant to be on a 747 and now got downgraded to some coughpy old A330-200 with domestic seating. As much as I otherwise like QF- their changing of aircraft which usually comes hand in hand with a downgrade of hard product is appalling

How often I got downgraded from an A380 to an old and tatty 747 with Gen 1 seating in J is far beyond "for technical reasons". It rather has to do with QF postponing/canceling orders of new aircraft to save a buck. It doesn't get unnoticed by customers, certainly not!

QF568 (if it is indeed the flight being referred to) isn't normally a 747. I think you must be referring to the QF581/2 service.
The media release is that these flights will be operated by the re-configured 767's.

As for Berlin, the domestic 330's are certainly much newer than even the newest 747 QF have on board. I agree the products you can't compare, but the 747 product was never intended for domestic use really;)
