That’s not correct. QR,CX and SA all leave around midnight and they all use the QF T1 lounge,

Comoman. I was basing the opening times on comments post #11 but on reflection that does not seem correct. Like you said QR and CX both have late night flights from T1 and are part of "Oneworld" therefore would use the Lounge. SA passengers would use the VA lounge.

There is no VA lounge - SA use the QF lounge. I know because I used it a few weeks ago.

To be fair, SAA does make reference to the use of the VA Lounge in PER on their website

While that's the case in Perth, QR in particular has a tendency to use non-oneworld lounges at out-stations, Bangkok being a case in point.

I used this lounge the other day when catching the dreadful MH126 departing at 2:10 am. It wasn't bad - food offerings not as extensive as the T4 lounge but nice and quiet with only a few passengers from MH and CX waiting.

I am the OP... I called Qantas who advised that this very unique Qantas lounge will not accept Complimentary Passes for entry. It is only there for use by partner airlines they say.

Did Qantas advise which lounge you can use at T1 with a complimentary lounge pass? I have this situation coming up shortly where we have QF tickets on EK metal and two members of our group have complimentary lounge passes.

I used complimentary passes to access it when flying JQ in December. The big lounge swap happened since then, but I would imagine a QF branded lounge with a QF ticket won't be excluded by the rules on a QF complimentary pass.

We also are QF ticket on Emirates metal, there are no lounges at T1 that you can use complimentary QF passes (they said). Only other lounges at T1 are VA and EK and there is no way that they would accept QF complimentary passes as they would get no revenue from them....
It is a unique situation where a lounge (QF in this case)is in a Terminal from where the lounge operator does not fly from.
The person who I spoke with at Qantas said " this lounge has been instructed not to accept complimentary passes".
In fact the lounge at T1 is not even listed as being there on any Qantas web page, only those at the other 2 terminals being T4 and T2 .
I will be there in 24 hours and will try and use the passes, they expire June 30th so if i dont use them this flight then I never will.

Will be interested in knowing how you go.

From the Qantas website:

Complimentary lounge invitation – General*

Complimentary invitations are a single-entry invitation for one person to access a Qantas Club or Qantas-operated International Business Lounge when their next onward flight that day is on a flight with a Qantas or Jetstar flight number.

So this would seem to indicate access is available for a QF/EK code share.

But, as jveevers says - the Qantas Club in Perth T1 is not mentioned at Qantas Club Lounges | Qantas . So maybe no access - will be interested to find out the result.

So here we are. Despite being told by QF on phone and web chat that we would be unable to access the T1 lounge, we had no trouble entering after showing boarding pass and Complimentary pass. Lounge opened at 19.30. Flight at 22.20. Was told that if we were flying Jetstar then no entry as not a Oneworld partner.
Not a patch on Emirates lounge next door, limited choices of spirits. Very limited food choices.

I'm a little confused. Is it now no longer possible to access the Qantas lounge at T1 when flying JQ/3K?

Just checking .... we fly into Perth Monday and after a few hours, hop on QF9. I assume we go across to terminal 3 to wait.
Any hints about QF9 appreciated .... food, comfort .... we are in economy so won’t have all the perks. However, recently flew Melb to LA on the Dreamliner so we can’t see the extra 2 hours being something we can’t handle. A month in Italy is worth a little inconvenience!

Where are you flying into Perth from and who with?

Yes QF9 was shown today as leaving from Terminal 3-4

All ok thanks, we have spent 5 hours in the business lounge between arriving and boarding QF 9 and now waiting to board via the new lounge through security. The main difference is that normally we fly in to domestic terminal and have to bus to international. This made it easier.

As an aside, it would have been great to have been able to borrow a needle and thread in the lounge for a quick running repair that was needed! Big thanks to a clothing outlet where the woman allowed me to do it in her shop! Was it asking too much of the lounge? Fixed anyway..... we are off. Hope sleep comes easily.

Awesome. Nice MacGyvering. Now enjoy Italy!

Excellent flight Perth to London, no jet lag, great selection of movies, toilets didn’t overflow or stop us from sleeping, plenty of food ... I was worried that we might go hungry .... arrived at Heathrow at 5am and not another flight in sight in our terminal so it was the easiest entry we’ve had... quite happy to do the reverse trip after a month in Italy. Economy seriously isn’t that bad ....
