Hi Everyone,

My dad has recently changed jobs where he was a frequent flyer and had been given a complimentary 2 year QC membership and now flies very rarely. Is there any possibility that Qantas would let him transfer this membership to me?

If so, how would I go about asking for this?

Your Dad will need to contact our Frequent Flyer team directly to discuss his options. They're available on 13 11 31 or [email protected].

No Luck. The lady simply said "we cannot transfer QC memberships between people".

I had a similar experience recently when I tried to transfer the remaining 8 months of my QC membership which had been redundant from when I achieved LTG 5 years ago. Rather than let me transfer the membership, Qantas ended up paying it out. It seemed nonsensical at the time and still does that they would prefer to give me money rather than transfer the benefit to someone else who may end up extending the membership.

Was his 2 year membership complimentary from Qantas or his company. If it was a paid membership then it maybe refundable to him as the account holder.

Not surprised re unable to transfer; also surprised by Red Roo's response to ring QF; the reply should have been "No, you can't"

One day when his work does not give him the free membership, his personal m'ship will kick in again.

In such cases, it's best for the member to contact the subject matter experts directly as there are few variables to consider.

For example, if the member was close to reaching Gold, then the membership could be placed "on hold" once they had attained this status. Also, the OP mentioned that this was a complimentary membership. Without the details, it's hard to comment if there are any additional options relating to the corporate agreement.
