Anyone know a way to get an econ tkt PER-SIN-ADL or even PER-KUL-ADL.
It seems that most of the lines don't allow this in their cheap sector fares.
Some of you may know of a way however.

The cheaper fares tend to be return flights, so you may find that it is just cheaper to do a PER-SIN-PER then do a PER-ADL.

Or fly LCC such as Tiger. This will be quite a bit cheaper.

I flew PER-SIN-MEL last week on QF.

Booked online via their multi-city option. Ticketed into the lowest red e deal on the way up, and "V" on the way back. It priced out (as would seem reasonable) around half way between the PER-SIN-PER & MEL-SIN-MEL flight options available for my travel dates.

Simple, Easy, Non-stop*! (Although I note Tiger is non-stop on PER-SIN & now has double daily flights.)

*Obviously you pay (comparatively) through the nose for this, with Qantas ticket prices. So I may be more likely to try Jetstar or Tiger (both via Darwin) in the future!?

Interesting. Tried that once before and didn't get those results. But certainly seems to price in a better way now.!

I was actually pricing out this exact trip in reverse the other week and was getting prices of around $1000 on QF (and around $4000 on SQ!), but if you're departing PER I would recommend having a look at TR to get to SIN, then booking the SIN-ADL through QF's Singapore site, it will almost certainly work out cheaper that way. I did up a dummy and got about $800 for it.

Your post has raised more questions now! I eventually got it with SQ for A$1300 but checking the QF site I can get SIN-PER-ADL for $447! but it did'nt say whether S$ or A$!!!

How did you 'do up a dummy'? I can get to the Singapore booking portal presumably because it's sees my IP address. Is there a way around this?

That $447 is in S$, but it's ex-tax, you need to select it and go to the next screen before it shows you the cash that's gonna come out of your pocket.

The way to get to the QF Singapore site is to use qantas.com.sg which should take you right there.

You should be able to select it as your region.

Even with the ++ added you can now understand why a few of us base our flying on round trip tickets exSIN. As long as you travel out at least every 364 days it is very worthwhile.........

I suspect that QF would not appreciate the average Ozzie overseas traveler becoming aware of this. And applying the rules of budgetary economics.

Happy wandering

I am one of them. Saves me a packet. Confuses the QF staff sometimes. My last trip I took I was on a SIN-PER-SIN//SIN-PER-SIN (2 tickets) and I took my daughter on a PER-SIN-PER ticket. (hers was a little over 2 x the cost of mine, I missed out on a sale by a few days, DOH!)

When I ran up to be seated together, the lady said no problems. But because I was on a rtn portion of a ticket. She only modified the rtn portion of my daughters ticket.

v8Stateman, the joys of nested tickets and your initial point of departure being SIN. Ah, it brings back memories (of when I travelled internationally and nested SIN/SYD/SIN and SIN/MEL/SIN tickets using BA WT+).

Hopefully, this litle trick brought up in this thread will be useful for newer members.

I discovered this little gem a couple of years ago and I don't want to let go now. The savings on airfares alone have probably allowed me to have an additional 2 week trip in SE Asia. It is a shame that BA has increased WT+ in line with QF premium economy but life goes on....

Say you need to spend a week in SIN from MEL twice in the next two months.

MEL-SIN-MEL on QF9/QF10 costs AUD1199 ex MEL.
SIN-MEL-SIN on QF10/QF9 cost SGD1130 ex SIN (~AUD870)

2 x trip ex MEL costs AUD2398, do one from SIN with dates "inside" the ex MEL and pay 2069, saving AUD329.

Book:
  • Trip 1 - AUD1199
    • MEL-SIN - Sep 1
    • SIN-MEL - Oct 20
  • Trip 2 - AUD870
    • SIN-MEL - Sep 8
    • MEL-SIN - Oct 12
Travel:
  • Journey 1
    • MEL-SIN - Sep 1
    • SIN-MEL - Sep 8
  • Journey 2
    • MEL-SIN - Oct 12
    • SIN-MEL - Oct 20
Bigger Savings can be made ex PER with AUD1054 ex PER and ~AUD650 ex SIN.

Of course, the more you travel ex SIN the more you can save. It's possible to fly one-way to SIN and basically use that as your base with your ex SIN journies having long 'stopovers' on Oz. (as per wandering_fred).

Buy a ticket PER-SIN-PER

Nest a ticket SIN-PER-SIN on the same airline they get aggravated but
SIN-LHR-MAD-LHR-SIN before using the SIN-PER leg would be acceptable though the latter more probably considered end-on-end

happy wandering

I've done this once or twice with QF and never had an issue. Perhaps if it was constant things might change. In any case, if I wished to do this consistently I'd simply base my travel ex sin WITH Oz stopovers in the loop.

Hey thanks guys.

I am 'nesting' in Perth. I will have to teach my travel agent about 'nesting', thereby improving my nestegg.

What about the nest of you :)
