Further to my post above 3 years back, I'm down to my last 2 blank pages with said passport (have been asking nicely for immigration officials to stamp "used" pages the last couple of years;), and with 2 upcoming trips to UAE and French Polynesia, was wondering the size of their entry stamps / visas. If you could post a photo of the entry stamp / visa even better! Thanks in Advance!

UAE gives a rectangular stamp and an oval stamp beneath it for entry, which may or may not overlap. That's odd - there's also an oval departure stamp, but for 2 entries, I've only got 1 of those :) Half a page for all 3.

Sure you wouldn't rather get a new passport now? Hopefully you'll need a lot more of the new pages

OR - do you have any glued-in page visas that can be gently pulled out? I did that once with an old Chinese visa t make sure I had plenty of space on my last passport for the last trip.

Hi kpc, are you going to Oman as well? I can't help with French Polynesia but as RooFlyer said above, the UAE stamps are not huge like some countries. However, the rectangular stamp is 72mm x 35mm and the oval one is 42mm lengthwise and 27mm widthwise for entry. The exit stamp is oval and the same size as the entry oval stamp. For us, both UAE and Oman effectively uses one complete page, but of course they had to stamp over two! (Oman is very similar to UAE)

I just renewed my passport late last year but I didn't even think about it.......a ten year passport that's already almost 1/2 full. Bugger. Next time it'll be the fat edition.

Lisa said you must be running out of destinations by now and lack of passport pages must be the ultimate in first world problems! ;)

A simple google image search of "UAE Passport stamp" and "French Polynesia passport stamp" will give you exactly what your looking for. Tried it myself.

Only going to UAE but had a bit of an anxiety attack when the corporate travel agent emailed me this below:
Visa On Arrival
A visa on arrival is available free of charge for a stay of up to 30 days. An extension may be possible
through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs. Travellers must:
l Hold a passport valid at least six months on entry with two blank pages
l Hold proof of sufficient funds
l Hold proof of onward/return flights
l Hold all documents required for the next destination
l Confirm with their airline that boarding will be permitted without a visa
My gut feeling was this was not correct which you both have confirmed above:)

I would be too scared to do this in case i tore the passport page in 1/2!

We want to do a comparison of the Maldives and Bora Bora :)...I could blackmail you by threatening to send our pictures from Bora Bora (going in 8 weeks' time) to Lisa

Funny you say that, as I've accumulated about 600K HH points since Rangali and Bora Bora is on the "spend" list. However, we're also approaching the magic mark for VA points to LHR RTN in an SQ suite, so a European vacation is also high on the list!

If you haven't already done so, i would recommend getting a frequent traveller passport when you do renew. It has double the number of pages (64) and only costs a little more than an ordinary one.

That's the plan...there is also something wrong with my chip...my last 3 attempts at smartgate on arrivals failed, and on my departure 2 weeks ago, the initial scanner had trouble reading my chip, and they had to use a secondary scanner....just trying to squeeze another year or so out of my passport.....

Thank you. I hadn't even thought about this.

In the past 24 months I've got 30 pages of stamps -_- even with an EU resident card and non-stamped entry into various other countries. I have 2 or 3 pages of visas which may be subjected to a hot air blower and removed now.

I should have got a frequent traveller passport last time but it was on an insurance claim and in a rush after filling up an emergency passport. Not sure I'm doing this right. I wonder how far I can push it to being filled up? I have already started begging immigration offers to fill in the small blank spots. Had considered applying for a concurrent passport but the requirements are quite specific.

Total FWP of course but AU passports are terribly expensive. At least they last 10 years for the less frequent travellers.

I found the requirements for getting a concurrent passport not that onerous. Unless they've changed it in the past 2 years, I think one of the valid reasons is that you are travelling to certain countries which have lengthy visa processing times AND you need to travel elsewhere for work during this time. This was the case for me, but there was no requirement to show evidence that you will actually be doing what you plan.
