P1 status run- can it be done?

Also received a nice bottle of red for christmas that's still in my cellar, and attended a few events – do they still offer the flight sim?

P1 for about nine months now and not a single event. When I replied to the welcome email I said I was interested in the sim - also crickets.
 
1800SC can easily be done for $7k
Do tell.
Indulge a little and do it in one trip flying F to London and back. If you bookend it with dom sectors that should get you 1,840SC
So tempting, but not sure that's a wise investment for me. I'll be LTG soon, no chance of ever getting to LTP and the next membership year already has slightly over 1200SC booked. It's hard sitting on the sidelines, itching to book something but knowing I don't need to.

I seem to recall I was proactive with getting them to arrange that, but they got in touch with me regarding some sporting tickets – at very late notice :(
 
So you book Flexi and get it returned as gift voucher. You rebook that anywhere and still dsc? Is that the best option guys ?

I think I know what you are referring to and there’s a few posts saying it’s not bulletproof ??? Is there one available now ? I doubt it :(
Just go and book BCI-LRE, it is a fully flexible ticket and costs about $140.00, change it back to a voucher and use it when the specials come up. I cannot lay claim to finding that route it was suggested by another AFFer. I think I made 22 bookings that I will now start to use based on what my travel needs are with minimal impact on current cash flow. As these started life as a real flight if you run into issues with DSC being applied the agents can look into the history and see that it was booked as per the T’s and C’s. I have posted all this detail in the DSC thread.

I am with some of the other P1’s here, I think you are a bit nuts but each to their own.

Back when the DSC were valid for QF flights numbers on EK metal, didn't someone on here book enough F trips between MEL and AKL (or somewhere in NZ) to qualify for P1?

In the DSC thread I posted step by step instructions with screen shots of how to do this. The voucher cannot be used to book multi city online the same as any other voucher however I have never found this to be an issue, I will call QFF is I need multi city. Anything else domestic or international can be booked.

Why do you assume everyone is on the company buck? I do not know of many organisations that would let staff book 22 one flights BCI-LRE in a single day. Most of the P1s I have meet are business owners and depending how you look at things it is their money.

Yes there was, I think it was for the early 2017 offer you can probably find the old thread but some of these can be hard to find since the upgrade to the site was done. From memory about 14 flights in EK F and did not set foot an QF metal.

$7k seems very very good value. I think it would cost a little more., but I'm not as creative as some :D

Well, OOL-MEL-AKL-MEL-OOL in J costs $1,321 all-up and earns 560 status credits with DSCs. Do this 3 times and you have 1,680 status credits for $3,963. Add on a couple of positioning flights and you're looking at closer to $5k. ;)

Well, that sounds like something worth considering. In my next membership year I'm likely to rack up enough SC's anyway that throwing something like this into the mix pushes me a level up in the game.

Well we're assuming (on behalf of the OP) if one was to do it from zero... However I kind of assumed that already budgeted/normal anticipated travel would net between 1200-1400 SC on their own (as they indicated they will requalify for WP) that still leaves 2200-2400 to earn, or say 1200ish with DSC. That's not too hard to achieve, and of course using delayed bookings and the like it's possible to turn some of the already anticipated trips into potentially earning DSC too.

But yes, needing 1800 pre-DSC overall would require 6 and some of those OOL-MEL-AKL r/t trips (which would net 140 one way or 280 r/t) so 6 and a bit would get 1800 base.

I've often done MEL-SYD-OOL trips as fair value (as much as one can get in oz in J) but nesting into a AKL J sale fare is genius.

Don't know if I could be bothered myself but each to their own.

And yes it was 15 F R/T on EK back in the day. Each sector 240 SC(with DSC) which would have seen a grand return of 3600 SC exactly. Those were the days to do it in real comfort and OTT bling, shower, Dom etc. However 15 sectors all in a short period of time was.. well.. one way to do it. Not cheap though but he really wanted the shiny. IIRC back in those days a sale F fare could be had for $899-$999 or so, so you're still looking at nigh on $15k for it.

The poster was obviously mortified by the amount of money they spent on their 'quick and easy' P1 requalification because they have never returned to AFF after posting that trip report LOL.
 
Yeah I don't call 15 T/T hops in 14 days very quick.. maybe easy comfort wise.. but OMG those EK breakfasts were dire! I got sick of doing those flights a couple times a year (but I loved having the return sector which was brilliant. RIP tag flight! AND QF/EK DSC).

Good pick up that they never returned @levelnine - I never thought to check :D
 
22 tickets booked and still going.....the tickets are taking a while to come through all ticketed n confirmed. the coffers must be swelling up.
