Hi everyone, looking to hear experiences for TPRs for those based in Aus. I've heard that PER-BKK often has sales. Does anyone know how cheap they get and are there any other fares available? Ex-EU has some good deals I've seen, DUB-LAX or BUD-Hawaii.

I would like to see whether its cost effective to keep up with OWE via QF or BA.

The question is whether the PER-BKK fare comes back. It actually can be done from most major cities in Australia. We would fly it twice a year which got me to gold in BAEC. Even at full price the F fare on this route was still cheaper than a J fare on QF's Circle Asia fare so really was a no brainer. Prior to finding out about the BA fare we regularly used the circle Pacific fare.

With the disruption of Covid there hasn't been a sale for nearly 3 years. The world is still not back to normal travel patterns so I presume it will be at least a year before it comes back. I hope it does as I want to use it in October 2023.

Have you got the BAEC required 2/4 flights on BA-IB? (as the detailed rules)

What airline for PER-BKK?

PER-SYD is on QF. Only 2 BA segments SYD-SIN-SYD.
SIN-BKK and any other places you visit is on a OW service. We always used CX or JAL. Hopefully at some stage CX will resume on the SIN-BKK and return segments.

Thanks for the info. I've heard the ADL-AKL on QR was a good earner when it was in sale. Is there any truth in this? Current prices seem fairly expensive for what you're getting

AKL-ADL is just over the magical 2000 miles, so earns for example 140 TP in Business rather than 40 for 1999.

Any news on PER-BKK? I can see the fare filed but can be priced :(

Didn't find it appropriate to post this in the main Why BAEC thread but some fares that those based in Oz might find decent for a holiday + TP earn.

KUL-NRT/HND-HEL-LHR-DUB r/t. There are probably multiple variations of this but DUB worked with HEL-LHR.

800 TPs~ 3.8-4K

HNL-LAX-CLT-MIA-GYE r/t (mainly in July and August). HNL to MDE/BOG/CTG are also decent. Starting from HNL will net you an extra 280 TPs.

720 TPs~ 1.8K

ICN-HKG-CGK r/t (b2b is bookable)

360 TPs 1.2K~

I have bought one for September from our resident AFF guru.
However it is definitely not the same product as before with no easy BKK - SIN flights as MH is only available on a couple of routes in combination with either PR, CI or PG. Not MH by itself. I think CX also not available.
The price with agent's fee ~ $6500 in J, $7500 for BA F segments SYD -SIN -SYD.
Doing a simple BNE-SYD-SIN-TYO-BKK-TYO-SIN-SYD-BNE.
So 1090 TP for J and 1230 for F.
If you use PER instead of BNE it would be 1290 for J and 1430 for F.

I was having a look at PER-BKK flights and it looks like they're back?

Pricing around the 5K mark for PER-SYD-SIN-TYO-BKK R/T

That still seems expensive. I'm doing..PER-SIN(QF metal) , SIN-HND-CDG (JAL metal) , CDG-LHR-GLA-LHR-CDG BA metal) CDG-HND-SYD(JAL Metal) SYD-PER (QF metal). All biz class over 13 days in Dec 24. 4,000 UKP. BA tier points run and visiting relatives.

How many TP do you get for this kind of associated trip? I am assuming you can get BAEC Gold with that itinerary.
4k GBP is around 8k AUD which isn't bad for that many segments of travelling.

The PER-SYD leg is certainly rewarded generously by BAEC

It's not as good as you may think but comes in at 1,120 tier points. This includes double tier points on the Glasgow route (promotion on with BA Holidays). The itinerary fits in good for my trip though as does the overall routing.

140 tier points one way SYD to PER which is the same as PER-SIN.
