It has long been the case that in order to take advantage of lower prices for OW tickets originating overseas, we are unable to have them issued in Aus, or we pay the ex-Aus price.

But... there seems to be a new quirk. This is not the case for tickets issued in Canada.

So... does that mean we can now deal with a travel agent (or AA office) in Canada?? Sounds like a much easier option!

(BTW.... this is on the basis that the exception only applies to the last sentence of the rule... but it may apply to the whole rule... in which case the trick doesn't work..... but it also makes it unclear which fare is charged in the first place!)

Dave Noble has mentioned the same.... will be interesting to see, shall i try ? i guess i have nothing to loose, i wanted to book next week and i am heading to Japan anyway so can still do the pay and pickup ticket in Japan option.

Also i found another country for DONE4 that is cheaper.... Atleast the other day and less so today but still a few hundred $$ is Ukraine. $6500 USD for a DONE4 (AONEx is much more expensive though)

Don't forget to add the cost and hassle of getting a visa for Ukraine. My last one cost $140 and that was about 3 years ago. If not in Sydney, you need to allow 2 weeks for processing and to be without your passport. If in Sydney, you can get it done same day but will cost double.

Kiev (KBP) is a most interesting city to visit.

Has anyone tried this for an option. Go to a local TA, like Flight Centre, who have a Canadian operation and see if they will do a deal through their sister office???
