I would say it is excellent value for local (Aus) standards. I haven't heard of much better of late.
 
Did this one on the election weekend FOR 520 SC

SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD-AKL-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD (Fri-Sun)

I had to book it in two legs: SYD-BNE-TSV return(48K points/ $349.16) and TSV-BNE-AKL-BNE-TSV (72K points/$886.22)

It was pretty draining but at least I got out of the country for the election - although I was seated next to Tanya Plibersek (I was in 1C she was in 1D) on the BNE-SYD flight on the Friday.
 
I would say it is excellent value for local (Aus) standards. I haven't heard of much better of late.

It's a bit dearer than two LAN runs at $770 each,for the same SCs, but has the advantage of not needing four days and two nights of accomodation.
 
Update re CX I-Class Ex-TPE South East Asia/Australia Flights in J

Sadly, these now no longer allow stopover and have increased in price, you may now need to nest within another itinerary to be able to utilise them. Also some anecdotal evidence around CX possible cracking down on "throw-away" of the last HKG-TPE sector.

CX in general are starting to crack down on I fares. It's been discussed on FT and of course it has been gathering quite a bit of chagrin.

Moving on from xASA, if you are using the "new way" from 1 July 2014 then anything around 1,000 points for a single SC is very good value (ouch!).

That makes the J WLG-MEL-PER-KTA return outstanding at 440 SC for 329,300 points in the J sale or 748 per SC. (I'm happy for someone to check this as I'm still learning too).

That is almost 4 times what you should be paying, or what we were paying until last week.
 
Looking at the new SC tables and the restrictions on earning for MH, the following seems to be a reasonable earn

CMB-KUL-MNL (1534/1546) Z class (~ AUD950) = 320 SC
or
CMB-KUL-NRT (1534/3357) Z class (1100 AUD) = 360 SC

Tokyo is also a good deal with CX

I'm certain someone will tell me if I read the tables incorrectly while I was wandering

They should be right, I'm reading the same thing from the tables (assuming those are return trips). But one of the oldies and still a goodie from TPE earns 320SC for roughly $750.

220 SC in Flexible Economy, 440 SC in Business.

The words "Simpler and Fairer" come to mind
