Going on a round trip to USA/Canada/Cuba. Bought the outward tickets (BNE-LAX) on credit card and the return (JFK-BNE) on FF points. Credit card free insurance covers a one way trip for 31 days only. They will not cover the return leg even though these tickets were obtained according to their redemption rules. To obtain the free insurance, the entire trip has to be all by purchase or all by FF points. We will be gone for 55 days so, ideally, would like to buy insurance only for the 24 days after the credit card insurance expires. This is probably an unusual situation but has anybody had experience with something like this? Thanks in advance.

I'd double check that a TID annual policy covers trips of 55 days.

The OP is doing a 24 day trip if they put the start as the day the CC cover runs out, which is doable as per the link.
