Anyone tried this?

I can't post links but its an Airasia thing where you can upgrade

Thought about giving it a go to KUL.

know some friends who use it all the time to snag flat beds on Air Asia X - they are usually successful on KUL-SYD

Hi Stanman,

I use this a lot if I book an AAX flight from Mel to KUL. I would say I have had about a 75% success rate with the upgrades that I have tried. Sometimes however, the upgrade price is not that great a saving.

I also bought the flight pass option as my kids travel a lot between cities depending on where my work at the time is based, that has worked out quite a saving when having to book their flights during peak holiday periods without having to book 12 odd months in advance.

Regards

I've not had a lot of success with it, but have been lucky enough to get the flat bed seats for a price aroudn what a normal flight + option town would cost me so not been too phased.

I get the feeling that optiontown seems to nearly award seats based on how far in advance you give them your money, so if you want toi try then sign up straight away.

I've only used it once (only flown with Air Asia once), but I wouldn't try it again.

We applied for the flat beds from KUL to OOL earlier this year, and were advised at checkin there were no seats and we weren't successful. I gave it two weeks after landing and then not hearing anything before I called the Optiontown people asking about my refund. When I did, they said that they don't process any refund until the customers actively phone in (in direct contravention of their own policy which states they'll process refunds within a week if unsuccessful), and that because one of us had been upgraded we'd only get half back.

Neither were upgraded and we still had our sardine class boarding passes to prove it, but they maintained that Air Asia had told them we'd been upgraded. I called Air Asia directly and confirmed that their records showed we weren't upgraded, but Optiontown would have none of it. I wasn't until a month of aggressive calling later and after I'd told them that I was initiating a charge back the next business day that I finally got anywhere.

I know others have had success, but I'd be making sure that you're prepared to fight for your money when things go wrong before booking.

I am another who found the refund process to be drawn out. Not a fan

I tried it, wouldnt bother again unless i was travelling solo.

I ended up getting split from my partner after missing out on the upgrade but getting the PSO.

Ended up paying the $600 at the counter to get upgraded and seated together.

I booked 6 months in advance so someone must have gotten in pretty quickly to beat me to it.

I dont know how many seats Optiontown get access to but there were 5 premium cabin seats available when i checked in and 3 remained empty throughout the flight.

Hi Everyone,
I have been searching the internet for days for people who have used the MBo (Multiple Booking Option) to change flights on Air Asia.
Has anyone had experience with changing their flights using this? We have signed up and thought it was guaranteed and have planned our trip based on our return date being a week later than the original booking. Now I am becoming very concerned that 'guaranteed' with Optiontown isn't really 'guaranteed' at all.
I would really appreciate if anyone has an experience they can share.
