Would be very interested to learn of the opinion of fellow travellers on this question.
Is there a place for a PR/sales bazaar in QFPs???
The various QFP's, notably, at the majors (BNE, SYD, MEL, etc) are increasingly becoming overrun with promotional stands - have a schick razor, sign up for yet another AMEX card, check out the latest in mobile phones, buy a shirt.....it's like a conference exhibition sales bazaar!
Now personally, my idea of a QFP is somewhere where you can get a drink (or two) if so inclined, catch up on some work or email in a quiet spot, relax and wait for your flight - I don't want to walk the gauntlet of promo folk vying for my attention and thrusting samples in my travel weary mitts.
I can only assume that the reason this is happening is so good old moneybags QF can make even more money at our expense - I regard these stands as intrusions - they cheapen the QFP, create a materialistic insipid mist, which can be left outside and no doubt the AMEX's and shirt sellers are paying big cash for the right to thrust their wares in our faces.
Whatever happened to a little sense of exclusivity, style, ambience?
No, Bigpond, I'm not interested in your tombstone posters when I try to get in and out of the BNE lounge!
And QF, is this really what you want your brand to stand for - cheap, nasty, tacky, intrusive...it's on a par with the new overhead locker advertisement posters starting to appear in Jetstar aircraft. YUCK!!!
