What are the current opening hours in the morning for the QP?

Travelling back to MEL on QF881 (the 1055 dep)

The QF website states (1hr prior departure), that doesn't give much time.

It's open from very early in the morning as there's a QF flight to SYD earlier than to MEL. The drama starts in the afternoon when it closes before all the Jetstar flights have left not that I'm ever on them, but arrivals access.

An hour is plenty of time at the OOL QC, specially when it's full of pax for the SYD/MEL and JQ flights it's a zoo. I'd rather sleep in more in OOL accom then spend a lot more time in the lounge there tbh. Staff are lovely but it's just too small for the peak times

We have to arrive early to ensure little Texter is fed/slept so he is decent for the flight.

Just a problem though - when does check in open? Does it open throughout the morning from the first SYD flight until both the MEL and second SYD flight departs?

I go there frequently for the 07:45 OOL-SYD QF flight. As long as there is that ~7:45am Qantas flight (weekdays, probably not sundays), they tend to open 06:00am (laminated sheet with times next to glass door). Otherwise, they follow the ~1hr prior to first QF of the day opening time.

Checkin almost consistently open 2hrs prior ~5:45am for that 1st Syd flight. Have no idea if they'll allow early checkin >2hrs for your Mel Flight (although worst case scenario, they have cheap self-serve baggage storage lockers, just OLCI/print your boarding pass prior so you can enter airside with baggage landside, and kill time early in the QP with the little one).
