Oneworld separate ticket interline changes

Hi all,
i have a flight SYD - BKK, transit for 6 h then Jordan Air to London on 2 separate tickets. Will QF interline my luggage all the way to london? do you see any risk that i will miss my connection (since i bear this risk)? TIA
Jordan Air or Royal Jordanian? You may be able to use transfer desk airside but transfer desk may not open until 3 hours before flight although RJ may have one of the tag flights operating at the time so transfer could be open.

Basically no, but of course it doesn't hurt to ask.

There is always some risk but six hours should be an adequate buffer.

It is Royal Jordanian.

If you're crediting to QFF be prepared for a saga.

I need the SCs to keep my QF Platinum. Thanks for the head up, i will photo the boarding pass and keep them until SCs are credited to my account.
 
Was going to post a new thread when I found this one. So here goes.

I am off on a trip to the UK in 3 weeks time. My return home starts in London with a BA flight to Berlin. That's been booked with BA direct (Economy Class). I will then have about 6 hours layover at Tegel before a Qatar flight to Singapore in Business Class. That was booked via Qantas using FF points.

Given that BA and Qatar are Oneworld airlines, would BA be able to check my bag through to Singapore even though my flights are on separate tickets? It would save me having to clear immigration, collect my bag and then check in again.

However I have now just seen that Qatar use the BA lounge at Tegel, and it is landside, so unless I can do online check in and find access to a printer to print a BP, I will still need to check in with Qatar anyway. Trying to do things the cheapest way and still get some comfort for the night flight didn't quite work out this time!

BA is suspected to be the instigator of this policy change so they wont through check anything not on the same PNR. They wont even do BA to BA if they are booked separately.
 
Have separate ticketed flights later this year QF award Mel/Lax, AA revenue Lax/USA, same outbound.

Telephone conversation today:

QF answer "No" baggage interline..can you please look at the QF agency interline baggage advice..QF mmmm please wait..few minutes later..that's just a QF exemption we will interline award/revenue baggage..does that mean we also receive boarding passes..QF I don't know what the airport does. Sadly I need to collect bags at Lax for customs..QF yep..what about return flights as I will be checking in with AA..QF cannot speak for other airlines this is a Qantas exemption only. QF did advise baggage allowance remains as per each separate ticket.

Could be helpful where there is an "international transit" QF award to one world revenue.

AA did suggest speak to check in as status may give a "one off" exemption and arrrr! mmm! some agents seem to be able to place the flights into the one booking which allows us to interline baggage. Thread discussion is spot on..flights not in the same PNR basically means interline is dead.

Happy to report our lovely AA checkin person took pity and interlined our return flight baggage on separate tickets AA paid-ORDLAX QF award-LAXMEL. TBIT Lounge access in 8 minutes via terminal 4 connector. What a joy to avoid dragging bags changing terminals.
Sadly no interline offer from QF on forward flight, turned out a blessing as we were able to bring forward our AA flight 1140hr to 0800hr ex QF93, even squeezed 10 minutes of Flagship lounge time.

I had no problems at Tegel with my flights. I was not aware that baggage collection and immigration are at the gate as you deplane. So I had no difficulties, specially as I had been in Germany a few weeks prior on my way over anyway. They barely even glanced at my passport.

So where I was hoping to "waste" a bit of time on formalities, it was all over in a few minutes as bags were quickly delivered. So I still had about 6 hours to kill in Tegel which I have to say is a dump, and one airport I hope never to see again! Qatar check-in was an absolute bun-fight even with Business class. But service in the air on Qatar was wonderful.
 
Hi ozbeachbabe, thought I had replied, sorry, boarding pass issued at LAX QF F lounge & AA luggage tag noted in our QF booking at same time. Worked superbly.

AY to AY is a through check rather than interline. I'm no expert on AY specifically (never flew them!) but their policy is here.

In addition to the basic rule Finnair will allow through check-in of customer and baggage with separate tickets on separate PNRs on AY–AY (including AY franchising flights operated by Norra) connections when the transfer is within the Minimum Connection Time (MCT). For AY–AY connection flights on the separate PNRs have to be both marketed and operated by Finnair or Norra and flights ticketed on the 105-stock. The agent shall always inform the customer of the destination where the customer and his or her baggage are checked-in to.

If I'm reading this correctly, you will be fine so long as both ticket numbers start with 105-

I can confirm that you are incorrect.

Eg my recent AY flight using QFF points had an 081 ticket (Qantas). But it had an AY flight number.

I too have a QF award ticket on AY metal, from earlier this year, with an 081 ticket number. The only hint of Finnair on there was the AY flight number. So operated by AY but marketed by QF.

I can confirm that you are incorrect.

I stand corrected! In that case I guess there's no guarantee of a through check, but in practice I expect many ground staff will do AY to AY without any argument, particularly if flying J or holding oneworld status.

I haven't flown on AY since the interline rule was changed. Last time I did, when the overall oneworld policy was through check across tickets/PNRs, I had AY contract staff at BCN refuse to check through to another AY flight (HEL-ARN) because it was a contract flight operated by a regional carrier. They claimed that an AY coded, oneworld flight wasn't an AY flight because AY paid someone else to operate it.

It's only 'marketed by QF' if it's sold as a QF flight number (regardless of whose metal it is) and all awards using QF points are booked under the flight prefix of the operating carrier so your award booking MUC/HEL is both marketed and operated by AY. It just happens to be on QF ticket stock.

When I've flown on Classic partner awards using QF points on CX & AA the tickets are always issued by QF on 081 stock.

Going by AY's rulings from the link provided by sbor90 upthread they won't through check bags as both pnrs won't be issued on 105 ticket stock however it's worth asking anyway.
