Hmmm… I just used Sri Lankan’s MB function for an upcoming AY award issued through QFFF. It worked! Gave me the AY seat maps and ability to change seats. I have OWR status, and no flights on UL.

Just adding this as a data point.

OW status would mean anything above base level… so qantas silver (oneworld ruby), qantas gold (oneworld sapphire) or qantas platinum (oneworld emerald)… or the equivalent tiers on any other oneworld airline .
I've found Malaysian's site is quite reliable - and easy to use - for seat selection

Starting my OWA from HKG tomorrow flying J on Finnair. Have just downloaded boarding passes which have provided lounge access at "Plaza Premium First". First of all, I'm assuming I can use any One World lounge and secondly, what is the standard of the Plaza Premium lounge. Assuming it is a PAYG lounge and inferior to the various Cathay / Qantas lounges.

Am I correct in my assumptions?

Yes, meh, yes.

Hi Members,

Lounge question.

So we got 2 J class and 1 economy OWA tickets. As wife and daughter will be accessing the business class lounge, what is the best option for me to get the same lounge access ( get a Citi prestige card , or priority pass or some other hack that I dont know of ?

I see that Cathay Pacific lounge in HKG only allow J class passenger and no other pass holders are allowed. Same goes for srilankan airline lounge in Colombo.

Any suggestions? as we want to be together in one lounge rather than me using a diff lounge with priority pass.

Does, infant/child under 3 allowed with J class passenger in their lounge ?

TIA

I don’t know of any oneworld lounges that allow priority pass or other lounge pass access.

Can you expand on how the infant/child fits in? Or is that a separate issue to the 2J and one economy ticket?

the child and me is on seperate economy OWA itenary. He will be turning 2 mid journey so had to take 1 child OWA ticket rather than just an infant addition.

FJ & WY are now both OW but cannot yet be included in a OWA, this is supposed to happen in the next few months. Does anyone have knowledge/experience, if I include FJ or WY in my OWA for next year now, which won't cap out at the OWA points but will it after they can be included in OWA and then I make another change which should trigger a recacalulation of the OWA points?

Hi All, I booked a RTW qantas oneworld booking back in April for Jan next year, all ticketed etc, I just want to change the last flight date from March to June but Qantas are saying I can't because the booking was made in April i am unable to book anything past this date. I thought i could book anything 12 months from the departure date in Jan next year. Is this correct or are can i change that last flight to June? I'll be away for 6 Months instead of 3 months. I did get a positioning flt to Manila to start the booking in Jan and paid with Peso's for the taxes etc, I wonder if this is causing the issue? Thanks

Staff that is not very well trained. You can have 12 months after your first flight (which of course is actually not bookable so realistically the most is 11months).

You will run into issues getting your ticket reticketed because you booked it with peso. Only Auckland and Hobart teams will be able to ticket it for you. All other call centres can only put in the flight changes then send it off for ticketing and thats the best they can do. Try in the future to get the initial ticket priced in AUD (any departure port/ country can be priced in AUD).

Thanks for that, I'll try again and hopefully change it :)

In May this year, we took a trip that in included 8 days in Scotland. Nowhere near enough time. We thought a trip next year of about 2-3 week in Scotland would be nice. For the life of me, I can't find any business reward flights from the start of the year to the end of the available calendar. Is Qantas making it impossible to book these or is it because I don't have any status? I vaguely remember a company that could find seats for a fee but can't remember the name. Getting old is a cough lol. Any help would be appreciated.

How are you searching? Is it Australia to London only, or are you breaking the flights down into components? For example Australia to Singapore, then onwards from singapore? And trying other Asian or US gateway cities?

Using the multi-city booking tool and flexible dates will bring up a calendar of available flights including class of travel.

If all else fails, you could buy a cheapie jetstar ticket to Singapore and book business onwards from there.

Hi Members,

apologies for a beginner query as I couldn't find any info on this.

Can I use any business class lounge on a given airport or only the one world lounge affiliated by airline on which I am flying on ?

I am flying in to Changi on BA J class and flying out on Sri Lankan airline on J class. Transit time is 12 hrs in night.

Cany suggestion on how to get the lounge access during this time

TIA

You can use any oneworld lounge if flying a oneworld airline. You can also use any specific lounge of the airline you are flying on, if that happens to be different.

This link will take you to all available lounges at any given airport for your oneworld flights: Airport Lounges: oneworld Lounges & Airport Lounge Access

It looks like, Sri Lankan also uses the DNATA lounge, which is open 0500-0300.

You might also consider a hotel either in the transit area or outside the airport. There are a couple of threads on SIN hotels for transit elsewhere on AFF.

I have tried both ways. I tried starting a trip from Singapore, Hong Kong and even Tokyo. It's like they haven't released any seats though I have booked them previously from this far out. Very frustrating.

From mid March to mid April if possible. Been on 2 of these trips in the past and had a few frustrations booking but nothing like this.
6 month’s lead in is probably getting a bit close to travel in terms of award availability. I booked my trip for Feb26 in April of this year… and Finnair ex SIN was available pretty much daily, for two pax, connecting to anywhere in Europe. That’s gradually dried up over the last couple of months :(
