Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Is there any information about what changes to a ticketed booking require reticketing? Is reissue the same as reticket?
My OWA booking is for Aug/Sept next year, I imagine there will be some carrier initiated changes between then and now. I'd like to find out (if possible) which ones I need to get on the phone for. Or should I contact QF for any changes?

Thanks
When changes are made you may get the option to click a button to accept change or to call QF. A flight of mine had a 30 min time change that required reticketing and took a whole day and many calls to get reticketed. A month or so later there was a 5 min time change on the same flight which did not require reticketing. Whenever there is a change, check the ticket number on CMT. You should always check your booking on CMT and MMB reglarly anyway.

Yes for CMT, no for MMB. MMB just shows the most recent valid ticket. By the time it shows adverse changes it is too late.

(@mel-Traveller) thanks, we have two long transits after a QR cancellation & being a QF booking we don't get the hotel deal.

FWIW, I had a 19 hour transit in DOH last week; the luggage was through checked and arrived at the destination OK.

Thanks. Where is the ticket number on CMT? I can't locate the ticket number on either web or app of CMT. I do have the eticket itinerary and can see it on the RJ website - I have some flights on RJ. The reservation number has a long range of numbers, definitely no 081-xx_ or the reloc

Where is the ticket number on CMT?
That looks like you are not getting the full details in CMT, which is not uncommon.

Myself and a few others managed to resolve this by adding middle name/s to our CMT details (even though it only asks for a first name), presumably because the middle name is included on your airline booking.

May also have to remove and then re-add the PNR to CMT at the end to get it to work.

Did the trick. Thanks

Ok so bit of a tale of my saga with needing changes for my OWA in July/Aug 2023.

Needed to make one change fly from Brussels to New York via Heathrow rather than Budapest and also requested that my Helsinki to Prague flight was moved forward a day. All flights were there and available so no issues.

Called day 1, Kat in Fiji tried to help, got new flights on the booking but old flights still there, kept going to support and putting me on hold. Seemed to give up and said she would call back in an hour and never did.

Called day 2, Darryl from Philippines seemed to get rid of the unwanted flights, ensure new flights were booked but couldn't get taxes worked out and seemed to be an issue if there were extra points (he said his system had crashed). Took my credit card details for extra taxes, said he would call back if there were issues but seemed to think all was ok. Sent through a confirmation to appease me from amadeus.

Day 3 no credit card charge and tickets still showing old flights (while the booking showed updated ones), got worried so called up. Got Sarah? from Philippines, mentioned Darryl, she seemed to know him and possibly messaging him while I was on phone and on hold. Tried to escalate in ticketing and also mentioned Darryl had done twice to prioritise. Guaranteed they would be ticketed in next 24 hours...

Day 4 (very early in morning) got new ticket emailed... Hurray :)

Day 4 mid morning to my surprise Darryl called and said everything was sorted and asked if he could assist any more.

In general found everyone very helpful but some (Kat from Fiji) in this case may have been lacking a bit of knowledge. They also seemed to know about issues with tickets being lost from not being reticketed and were happy as a result to try and escalate.

Overall I found that if you are nice, polite, ask them their name and how their day is going they were always willing to help and to be honest shocked. I can only imagine some of the abuse they cop...

I'm now worried each time I get an email "there has been a change made to your booking". One of my flights had been cancelled, and I was given an alternative online but no option to choose it. I called and after about a 20 minute conversation I was placed in the ticketing queue despite my plea to have it ticketed on the phone. I was prepared to call the following day to check in on the ticketing but later that evening I received the updated ticket which I confirmed in CMT.

You will receive email notification from Qantas and what you need to do if there is flight change to your booking.
From my limited experience of one cancelled flight and one flight time change (that causes the next flight not possible), I had to call Qantas to request new flights added in. Ticket was reissued / re-ticketed (not sure if there is a difference between these). First change to remove 2 flights, no change to tax, ticket is reissued with same 6 characters confirmation number / booking number. Second change to add some flights, route is changed quite significantly, no change to tax, ticket is reissued with same 6 characters confirmation number. Technically the first change should have less tax and second change should have more tax than original booking.

You may or may not receive an email from Qantas. It may or may not tell you what to do. It may or may not tell you what the changes actually are. If there is an option to accept the changes, do not assume it will be automatically ticketed. The six figure booking code will always remain unchanged, it is the ticket numbers that matter. No ticket number means no ticket.

What do people think about Sri Lankan as part of OWA? Pretty good availability to LHR via CMB from Australia, some internal political strife but doesn't seem to have caused much flight disruption?

Wonder if people can help with this - was completing my OWA with flights from LHR - CMB on UL504 J on 23/9/23 and CMB - MEL UL604 J on 03/10/23.

Looked on the Qantas website and they were available. Could book the LHR - CMB and CMB - MEL on those dates online under the same booking, didn't get an error, went to payment page so didn't appear to be phantom availability. Assumed would be fine to add.

However QFF contact centre cannot see any availability for UL604 CMB - MEL on 2/10/23 or 3/10/23. Thought maybe a married segment issue but she couldn't even find CMB - MEL on those dates as a stand alone ticket.

Has said I could book CMB - MEL online and call them up to link bookings but a) CMB isn't somewhere I can make a booking from and b) even if I did LHR - CMB/CMB - MEL I'm right in saying it wouldn't qualify as a 318k OWA ticket with two bookings linked?

Anyone know why they can't see the availability for that flight at all (let alone married segment issue) despite me being able to book it?

With reports of privatisation to give the government cash, I'm wary of booking them in the longer term. Why would an airline buy Sri Lankan now when they could potentially wait till it is bankrupt and get what is left even cheaper?

Maybe I'm too cautious - I'm trying to avoid AY and CX for fear of too many schedule changes, but then if tthe troubles in Ukraine widen all bets around Europe would be off I suppose.

I used UL as part of my ongoing OWA. I went MEL-CMB-DEL. The flight to CMB was heavily delayed, went via SYD and the catering was awful. The seat lacked storage and was not very comfortable. The lounge in CMB was great and has delicious Sri Lankan buffet food. The flight to DEL was much better and had Sri Lankan food, albeit on a narrowbody plane.

Seems you got an incompetent CSA. You cannot ever link separate bookings into a OWA even through the call centre. Re what availability they can see, you should just ring again and hope you get someone more knowledgeable to speak to.

Urk a bunch of flights have dropped off mine suddenly. PRG-HEL-xWAW-DOH-DEL. The QR sectors (WAW-DOH-DEL) will be gone for sure.

I'm in the same boat as you k_sheep, just saw your post and decided to check my OWA as I have a business class Qatar flight (Barcelona to Sydney), realised that it has dropped off and I'm no longer ticketed. I had added a flight segment to my booking a couple of days ago, took 5-6 calls to hassle Qantas to ticket within 24 hours but eventually got there. I thought it was all fine since I paid the taxes & points and received a new itinerary with new ticket numbers. Seems that even when you have a ticketed booking, your flights can still drop off.

Just called Qantas and they said they have put in a reinstatement request to Qatar. Does anyone know what the chances of this reinstatement being successful are, and how long it typically takes to find out? If reinstatement is unsuccessful, should I push for Qantas to re-book me on a Qantas flight? Would appreciate any other advice on what to do here.

I recently returned from my 6th OWA and happy to report despite my fears eveything went smoothly no cancellations and no lost luggage so I didn't need to contact the QF CC. I must add due to earlier cancellations and the hopeless QF overseas CCs I think I made over 50 calls to put it together. It caused a lot of stress and weeks of sleepless nights and there were a few times I felt like giving up. I enjoyed J on QF 787s, the BA J A380 doesn't compete. I was denied access to the AS lounge at SFO as my ticket was deemed an "upgrade". Impressed by the IGA lounge at IST though and the T5 BA lounge at LHR was over crowded and looking tired.
I have already booked another OWA for mid 2023, still monitoring if some flights become available that I could add but not sure I can cope with the stress of dealing with the CC, also hoping there won't be as many cancellations next year neccesitating call with the CC.

I sadly haven't heard of any tales of reinstatement requests being successful in the dozens of incidences on this forum alone :( The good news for mine is I was planning on changing the date of those flights anyway, otherwise I'd be stuffed (QR at xmas time - no chance at this late date).

My advice would be look for an acceptable solution on QF flights - if pushed they can convert paid flights to award bookings. But only on their own metal.
