Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

DO you have a link to what qantas deem as eligible family member.

My girlfriend and I have been amassing point for this ticket and all in the one FF point account. Looking to book at the end of the year.

We have lived together for the past 3 years and been together for almost 5. Does she qualify as 'family' or spouse if I can prove our living arrangements?

My situation is similar - you won't have an issue when booking together. The options under "Relation to logged in Frequent Flyer" include "Domestic partner" and "Defacto" etc.

Excellent thanks for the info.

Do you happen to have a link to anything official on qantas website outlining these definitions. Just for peace of mind. I tried searching google but couldn't find.
Thanks!

Visit Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions | Qantas and do a search for "Eligible Family Member". It currently says:

'Eligible Family Member' of a Member means any person the Member can demonstrate, to the reasonable satisfaction of Qantas, as being related to that Member in any of the ways described below:
  • Husband/Wife
  • Parent/Step-parent
  • Domestic Partner/De Facto
  • Child, including foster and step-child
  • Brother/Sister
  • Half Brother/Sister
  • Grandparent
  • Grandchild
  • Son/Daughter-in-law
  • Brother/Sister-in-law
  • Father/Mother-in-law
  • Uncle/Aunt
  • Nephew/Niece
  • First cousin
I don't see any more details about proving the relationship, but I haven't trawled through the details. If it's anywhere, it should in this document.

Yep, definitely no problem there.

IMHO, you will not have a problem.

Firstly, especially if you are a Victorian, not sure about other states, just about anyone with cohabitation for more than 2 years can identify as de facto by law.

Secondly, if both of your QFF registered home addresses is the same, there won't be a query by QF.

Thirdly, I believe the operators are far too busy with call queues of more than an hour to worry about some of the finer semantics.

Haha, only death and taxes.
Sitting with a partner/friend, with seats selected 11 months out in J is pretty close though.

Slightly off topic as this is QF, but 18 months ago had confirmed seats for partner and I on SQ for 3-4 months (whY) on same PNR and went to check the status of my flight and found they changed them without advising either of us and we weren't sitting together.

Phoning up first time didn't help one iota, but a second escalation got it sorted eventually.

Thankfully the only experience I've had with SQ, they left us in the Suites we booked, both times. I would have been terribly upset to be moved to a different suite,
Using QF points on premium cabins, various carriers, have never been moved, usually booking for 4.

Can anyone help please?
If I land in GIG and then a few days later fly from EZE, would GIG be considered a stopover?
I believe GIG - EZE would be considered a surface segment.

If a flight segment is booked but not paid for/ticketed, does the website reflect that the number of seats for that flight segment is reduced accordingly. EG. If there were only 2 business award seats for EZE - MAD, would the Qantas website after the booking(but not ticketed) now not show any business award seats available?

Yes, that is a stopover....and also a surface segment (mileage included also).

Typically, the 2 seats should disappear from availability on the website once booked, regardless of ticketing. Unless there was more than 2.

For those who have ended their journey in a destination other than the origin (without dropping flights). Does that count as your fifth stop? Or can you fit in five stops plus your last city and dead leg?

I.e. Start MNL - five stops - end PER, dead leg to MNL; or must it be Start MNL - four stops - end PER, dead leg to MNL.

I currently have four ticketed, and i have a feeling it doesn't count as a stop as I've got another stop in PER in the itinerary, but wanted to ask others' experience.

Confirmed. 5 stops plus mileage back to point of origin is fine.

We have booked our RTW ticket in June this year. We have been advised by Qantas that our VRY to JFK with Cathy has been cancelled as Cathy has now stopped flying this route. We travel in June 2020. Qantas cannot tell us any alternatives at this stage, just wanting to know what Qantas's obligations are? we have booked accommodation, car hire, in both Vancouver and new york. Thanks.
