Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

I don't think too many people book the F version of the OWA, but just in case - CX is removing their F class out of the 777-300ER as they go into refurbishment (3 class configuration with the new J aria suite as the top of the line).

This means that CX won't have any F seats once completed until they receive delivery of the 777-X family.

After getting the flights changed to what I wanted for two passengers and confirming them with the agent over the phone, they said it will be just 24 hours before my ticket is issued. 24 hours later the additional tax was deducted from my account but for some reason, one of the ticket's point value got refunded!

I called back after 24 hours and told them it hasn't been issued and was told to call back again in 48 hours as they have set it to the ticketing team. It's now been over 48 hours and still no ticket emailed to me.

I'm now in ticketing hell. Does anyone have any tips on how I can solve?

Ticketing Hell has returned. My last amendment that I was singing about two days ago has led to the cancellation of my CX and MH sectors. I have emailed the reward escalation people to see what can be done.

Fingers crossed. The whole system is a mess though. I am randomly still getting responses from the escalations team regarding the J seat the Filipinos were unable to find. This has ranged from “business class is full” (11 months in advance….), some seats are only available for the Japanese domestic market 🙄, definitely not our error etc etc.

I’m actually going to take Qantas to NCAT. I cannot run my business by advertising “phantom availability” and then lying to customers (in writing no less) to cover it up. The airlines are absolutely out of control, which is simply a reflection on how atrocious our consumer protection laws are (many other industries are just as bad - I’ve actually got ACMA acknowledging a major law breach by Vodafone, but then saying “oh they’ve not responded to our request for information, so there’s not much we can do).

In 10 days we will commence our trip. We have had many flight changes and time changes and at times I have needed to chase up e-tickets etc.
But it has been all quiet lately. I do lots of planning and researching for trips, but I must admit that the nerves have stepped in and I am nervous about it all going smoothly.

We fly to Singapore the day before on a separate ticket to get the flights we needed. We then commence our journey on JAL business, (I haven't ever flown with them before). I would like to contact JAL beforehand as I am anaphylaxis to fish, but I am fearful it will somehow mess up our booking.
I don't recall worrying so much about award flights in previous years, I guess I have read and heard too many sad and unfortunate experiences.

There are a lot of fish dishes on JAL premium it will be hard to avoid being near them.

Did you have the email you could share with me in DM?

Calling JAL to indicate meal preferences is 100% safe :)

Years ago I used to fly ANA and JAL monthly, it was always a hard task to request a ‘no fish’ meal. I always ended up with a vegetarian. Not sure if that’s changed in recent years. Can’t hurt to ask!

Looking at the JAL menu page now, it seems they have upgraded their vegetarian meals in business and first, they look pretty inventive! https://www.jal.co.jp/jp/en/inter/service/first/meal/#vegetarian

Thanks @MEL_Traveller for the links and @Princess Fiona
I have looked at the menus ( the western ones look ok, but I would be wary) and special allergen meals (which don't look so nice). The vegetarian options look good.

I will phone them and try and sort something out. I have never pre ordered any meals on any premium flights before. Maybe I will just eat up in the lounges prior to boarding!

You should also be able to select preferences on JAL's own MMB.

Yes. But IIRC ‘no fish’ isn’t an option. They *might* be able to send a message direct to catering to accommodate it as a special meal.

I doubt they could ever be sure that a meal didn't have any fish product unless it was vegetarian.

I am planning an itinerary for next year for my wife and I in Business. I began booking flights a couple of weeks ago with:

BNE-HKG(S)-HEL-GVA(S,surface). This was one CX & two AY flights. The fees & taxes came to $366.11 each.

Yesterday, I added MAD-HEL-KIX (two AY flights). This involved a wasted hour on the phone to the Manila call centre (I think) but my second call (sounded like Fiji) was successful and the new tickets were emailed within 24 hours.

My issue relates to the new taxes and charges. When I looked on the Qantas multicity booking site at the taxes & charges for the two AY flights, MAD-HEL-KIX, it shows 165.24 Euro for each person (which would convert to about A$272). However, I was charged A$437.10 each to add the new AY flights to my existing booking.

Can someone please explain why the fees and charges are different? Could there be a mistake here?

Without seeing a full breakdown it’s hard to be sure.

A mistake is possible, but more likely is that when you makes changes the entire itinerary is repriced.

Since your original booking, CX or AY may have increased fees and carrier charges.

Plus the currency movements may not have been in your favour.

AUD150pp difference does seem high though.

Perhaps put the itinerary into ITA and see how it breaks down.
