"oneworld" award (132.4K/249.6K/318K/455K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Don't be disappointed on the DOH-TUN change. Those flights are operated using Oman Air aircraft and crew. They are fully flat seats with ample space and privacy (once the divider is raised, at least). While definitely not Q Suites, they're as good as other Qatar J seats.

I hope you are right but the seat selection shows the seat layout for the old QR 333 that only has angle-flat seats.

Thank you - I understand now what is going on having looked at FT and then the Oman Air website seat-map. My disappointment is abated. Is the catering Oman Air or QR?

Qatar catering including paper menus. The amenity kit is also QR and was a lot better than what was provided on the long-haul from Australia to DOH. My flight had a Qatar CSM but otherwise Oman crew. The only thing that is WY is the inflight entertainment which was a fraction of the QR range.

Can a "Nordic Regional Airlines" flight be included in a OWA? Looks like it is a Finnair flight number? Are these little subsidiary airlines allowed?

Am getting the fatal error when I enter name and phone number and click to next page to go to pay, so will have to try this on the phone.

Is it permissible to book a 318k oneworld J award without any QF segments? am planning to use a mixture of QR, BA, JL, AY, and possibly RJ.

1) ADL-LHR
2) LHR-NRT-MEL
3) SURFACE
4) BKK-HEL

It's weird that your itinerary is pricing at 318k. It should be priced as 3 x one ways. It is not counting the miles from HEL back to ADL for some reason.

There are many others that are more qualified than I when it comes to booking these trips. Without knowing all the detail it looks like you are starting in AU arriving back in AU then trying to get back to EU with a positioning flight to continue the journey. If you start in AU and arrive back in AU the OWR finishes based on start and end point rules. Also to answer your question, QF does not need to be in the booking but x2 OW carriers need to be included.

It seems like I can't make a OWA booking on the Qantas website with more than 2 surface sectors. I understand that I am limited to 35000 miles and 16 sectors (flight and surface) in total, but is there also a limit in the number of surface sectors I'm allowed? Would like to avoid calling Qantas to book if possible... But will obviously bite the bullet if I can have more than 2 surface sectors if I book over the phone.

Cheers!

Have a look at:

Yes, this is a limitation with the Qantas website. There are others as well, which are outlined in the above article.

Thank you both for your swift replies and the warm welcome.

Mattg your article is excellent and I’m sure I read it in my preparation/planning but must have forgot that piece of information. Do you know if it’s possible to have more than 2 surface sectors if you call through to Qantas to book instead?

It depends on the agent you get. If you don't have status you'll almost certainly get someone at an overseas call centre who doesn't really know the rules and will probably just read from their script which says there is a limit of 2 surface sectors. (They'll probably also tell you some of the flights have no availability, even if they do, and mess up your booking so it ends up in a manual ticketing queue and you lose some of the flights.)

Basically, my strong advice would be to limit the number of surface sectors to two and try to book online. ;)

Think this is your problem, with ADL/MEL (even though surface sector MEL)

Cape Town is waiting for your call.
I'm sure there is a joke in your comment that is going over my head here hah. Are you implying that when booking the OWA on the phone the incompetent operator will say Nordic Regional Airlines isn't allowed?

I would keep expectations fairly low. HUACA, a few times, perhaps. Anyway, good luck

We have Nordic Regional Airlines flights in our upcoming itinerary - they are definitely in OW, and with an AY flight number I doubt you'll have anyone questioning that

Hi everyone, does anyone know how borrowing a bassinet might work on JAL or or just partner airlines in general? Do I need to call up JAL and request specifically?
