Considering all of the discussion on here regarding these fares recently, thought some of you might like a head up.

All First and Business Class One World and Global Explorer fares will be increasing from 1 Nov for ex Australia bookings only.

Ticket by 31 Oct. to avoid the increase.

How strange - given the strength of the Oz$ shouldnt these be coming down in price?

but the cost of fuel is at an all time high ...
oh wait, they jack up the fuel surcharge for that

I think its more to do with the price the market will bare rather than the relative value of the local currency.

I'd have to agree with you on that one.

Plus got to keep a premium over the fares on the Aus-USA route. Wonder if the Circle Pacific fares will also rise?

All the OneWorld fares are up for review, including OneWorld Explorer, Global Explorer, Circle Pacific, Circle Asia.

Yeah, I was told by someone senior in QF that sales ex-Australia are relatively very high, compared with sales ex other countries.

But, given the price jumped around June 07 by about 7%, it is a bit rich!!!

Incidentally, I just spoke to QF telephone sales and they told me that they had no information on any forthcoming price increases and quotedthe current $10,189 for the DONE4. If our information is true and these fares will be going up 1st November I find it absolutely extraordinary that the customer would not be informed a matter of days before a price hike.

QF has announced it to their agents:

Latest Fare Changes

So do we assume that QF is deliberately keeping the new fare quiet from the public to avoid people paying the lower price now to beat the price rise...or that their telephone sales are exhibiting further incompetence?!

I guess I tend to the latter, but may substitute the work ignorance. They can't tell you what they don't know. But when quizzed about it, I would like to think they would about have access to the fact that the prices are set to be reviewed even if they don't know what the revisions will be.

I did (very politely) push for the info and even suggested a travel agent had inferred a change may be in the wind - the response was "fares can change at any time". Yeah.

Well this is certainly a little dissapointing/unusual. My original budget for the upcoming DONE4 was $10,500 in May, I pushed that to $11k, wonder what I'll need to aim for now. Looks like an NZ departure is becoming more and more enticing. I really don't want to do it in whY though!

Wonder what the fare increase will be with a 7% jump four months ago.

PS. Thanks for the heads up Travel Guru!

Making NRT and even MRU more enticing.

I've been investigating this recently and have found that Air Mauritius flies MRU to/from PER several times per week. Airfares are quite reasonable as well.

Dont forget that if you have the option - booking through AA is cheaper still after fuel surcharges...

The flight departs PER at a nice sociable hour as well

No AA option in MRU. Only BA there I think. CX also has a GSA there but I recall reading that they won't issue ex-MRU.

I would not assume it will be "more" enticing. Generally there are 2 fare reviews per year, and in most cases all fares are reviewed at the same time. So if there is an increase coming for AU origins, I would be expecting to also see an increase for other origins. And it is often the case that the countries with the lowest fares get significant increases. I guess we just have to wait and see when the new fares are actually known.

I was not suggeting AA as an alternative MRU - more an alternative to QF.
