QF seem to be tightening up on some of the quirks in the system, 10 SCs for $5 or so used to be a nice way to travel to ADL:

Domestic Fares Update 05 August 2010

Effective for sale and travel immediately, Qantas has changed the route map between ADL and BNE (vv) to 9998 to allow direct travel only. Qantas no longer permits travel via MEL or SYD on a through fare basis

Its now around $70 extra to route via SYD for instance on the cheapest midweek fares.

You’d have thought their priority would be dealing with what goes on in the US… dom F, rather than screwing us at home for wanting to route through another city.

May they never change the Dom F US sc situation... ever... please...

It used to be possible to do this via Canberra. I guess they've changed that as well?

Where is the dislike button on that change from Qantas.

Same applies to the JASA's. The only ~30k flights are now direct. Via MEL or SYD, then cheapest seems to now be ~49K. Now I'm kicking myself for not booking earlier this week (I thought I'd wait to see what was happening with work first):evil:

Ah well. Had to happen sooner or later.

I hope they don't rip ADL-CBR as well...

This isn't the first time Qantas has done this type of change, and I doubt it will be the last.

Not sure I can think of any that benefited the customer though!

I doubt there is mych they can do about that, directly at least.

Also have to look at it this way, most people would prefer to fly it direct, it;s only us crazy souls looking for the extra SC's!!!

...or people who prefer the scheduling options provided by going via other cities where more flights are provided.

They could change the earning such that 1st on domestic USA flights earns as business or change the earnings for 1st to a style as it used to be where 1st class flight of less than 2701 miles earned as business . With the current tables, if zones 1,2 and 3 ( flights of 2400 miles or less ) had 1st class earn as business it could be done nice and easily since there are only a few domestic AA routes further than 2400 miles . make it 1-4 and other than HNL-ORD /DFW pretty much covered it

Don't give them (QF) too many ideas Dave.
