Lucky it didn't happen in a First class lounge, that could have been tragic :)

The news comes just three weeks after an Etihad flight from Abu Dhabi was forced to turn around shortly after take off when a woman in business class realised that she hadn’t updated her FourSquare account from the lounge

That's my favorite bit

I had a great chuckle reading that. Thanks for the link

Aviation authorities are now urging all airlines to issue reminders in their business and first class facilities.
Miss a FourSquare check in - never . That could be a massive points haul

I've never forgotten to check in, but there have been a couple of times where I've been sitting in my airline seat and I've wanted to get the selfie of me with drink in hand posted to facebook before the front door closed... I've had a few close calls there...

:D

If you've already checked in to a place you can check in from anywhere.

Of course, I was extremely PO'd to lose the Sydney T3 business lounge mayorship to some A-hole who check into it while it was closed over christmas.

Now that is evil :p

I love that some of the comments on that page assume that it is a real news story

 Am I supposed to understand what you are all talking about?

More to the point, is it advantageous for me to understand what you are all talking about?

This kind of thing is very jerk like!

Which one? Me checking in later when I forgot at the time. Most recently after the flight landed and I realized I forgot to check in before take off.

Or do you mean checking into something that isn't open. If the later, it really annoyed me. But then what could I do? Report it? To who and to what end? I also wondered if the bloke was too stupid to realise the difference between the QP and the J lounge.

Definitely checking into things that aren't open or you didn't visit that day , you have a point though as I remember samh004 having trouble recently with someone getting the QP and j lounge mixed up in BNE constantly.

I'm open to a checkin after visiting a place, I often do myself as I've usually got my hands full when in town with the family.
