Oman Air joins Oneworld in 2025

There are no true "F" award seats as Oman ditched First Class in 2024 and rebranded "existing F" 787-9 seats as "Business Studio" - sort of Business +. Basically same-same as Business service and amenities in former first class seats with minor menu enhancements. Long-haul routes only eg MCT-LHR (also anecdotally MCT-BKK).
Biz Suite (First) lounge access is via a separate door in Muscat combined First/ Business Lounge. YMMV. Business Studio : Oman Air
But not all OW partners let you book those!

QF can see them but not bookable either….

Oman Air also actively promotes a "bid upgrade" option for eligible Y tix to J plus encourages similar from J to Biz Studio (whatever that class is coded)

Can report first hand next week.
And I can report in about 3 weeks, flying J KUL-MCT-LHR.

I've transitted through MCT several times, and haven't been impressed with the WY lounge. Sure, it's all glitter and whatever, but from a food and drink perspective it left me rather underwhelmed. It's also far too brightly lit and open.

On a couple of occasions while at MCT I've gone to the Primeclass PP lounge (when I also had WY lounge access) and been quite pleasantly surprised.

IMO WY doesn't compare well with EK, EY and QR in respect to lounges at their home bases. WY's generally fine in the air, but on the ground, well that's another story. Let's not even mention the boarding (non) process.

Pretty much sums it up.
Have a relative that flies them a lot and constantly says on the ground they are ordinary and don’t even bother trying to deal with them in regards to IROPS

I was of the understanding that the First lounge section has been closed and is currently vacant.

Confirmed ... First Lounge at MCT definitely closed. Desk staff didn't know any "what's next" plans for the space/s. Or weren't telling.

Also have to agree with @clifford comments in Post #145 above - it's a glitzy lounge area and to be fair, we only tried the buffet for a very light snack between flights (MNL-MCT-LHR). Not a completely inspiring experience. A separate dining area had a menu showing 5 Mains (beef kebab, fan fried fish of the day, marinated chicken thigh, linguine pasta and saffron risotto) accompanied by a selection of mezze and salads at a cold bar.

Also @jase05 comments re ground handling during IROPS reflected by a Kiwi couple on their way to LHR. There had been lengthy delays on their flight from KUL which meant the entire plane missed onward connections. They ended up with Oman booking them into the airport transit hotel but many, many others left to fend for themselves due to lack of clear communications about the process to follow.

The current situation of no-earn is an absolute disgrace. It reflects very poorly indeed on both Qantas and Oman - after 3 years they can't resolve something that every other Oneworld airline has managed??? Where does the incompetence lie? The fact it is just QF and FJ suggests it lies with Qantas! It;s way beyond time they moved quickly to resolve this. Even if they grant SCs and Points in retrospect would be a just acceptable compromise. Their lack of communication on this issue also reflects badly.
