Oman Air joins Oneworld in 2025

Now reinstated after a call to Oman Air in Muscat. Just as well I have complementary overseas calls in my phone plan.

But the agent was very nice and quite efficient, even though it was 3 am his time..

Oman Air have sent this out to existing members. Is there no OWE equivalent?

According to an article on executive traveller, they are joining with two tiers and will work out how to align Emerald in the mean time, maybe with a new Sinbad level.
They’ve only had 4yrs to come up with a WP level…

I booked business rewards via QF on Oman from Milan-Muscat-Jakarta with a stop in Muscat to have a look around. The actual cash fee was very low and turned out to be too good to be true, of course flights got changed and ruined my schedule. Lost 6K points per sector in cancelling everything and went with Emirates First on the way home instead.

It's a shame, I've met some of their crew whilst staying in BKK and they're lovely but the experience has put me off now.

Any particular reason?
He just finds it a bit of an average program thanks to things like no F lounge entry for top tier Sinbad and no lounge access at all on domestic flights unless part of an International itinerary. He does get numerous J to F upgrades and loves the F lounge which is huge and pretty much always empty but he said customer service is pretty average and even commented that people who complain about BAEC have obviously never been in Sinbad because when things go wrong they fob their top tiers off pretty quickly.
He did mention though that WY are very cosy with QR and that they are looking at instigating a similar FFP system for lounges where the new Sinbad tier would get F lounge access in MCT if flying J similar to the Al Safwa and that the F lounge wouldn’t be available for OWE’s

That's a shame.

I'm curious why you had to pay 6,000 points to cancel when Oman Air made a significant schedule change? I would have expected you'd be eligible for a full refund due to the involuntary schedule changes.

I wonder if Sindbad might get a bit of an overhaul now that it's part of Oneworld (well, from tomorrow, anyway). Or perhaps they'll just carve out exceptions for there own members like "no lounge access on domestic flights" etc. Time will tell.
