Thanks Guys.

I've called up citibank and they request a printscreen of the link and fax it to them for verification.

currently i have a citibank gold card with $119 fee per year.

Tried to apply for the gold no annual fee. But somehow today i received an email saying that i only been approved for Silver card.

Is this normal to downgrade the card even we have applied for Gold card without our consent?

Somehow they have declined my application for the gold card and giving me silver card instead.

Advise on this will be appreciated.

i had the same problem back in dec 2006, when i applied for a annual fee free gold card and they sent me a silver one instead. I didn't use the silver though. So now i got a citibank gold card but not sure if it's annual fee free or not. Just waiting for confirmation from citibank :(

just if ppl are wondering if this still works or not, i applied on tuesday and received my card today. on the letter it says $0 annual fee so i assume it's all good.

cheers for the link!.

Not going to activate my gold card unless i'm absolutely sure that there is no annual fee for life. :(

There is a minimum credit limit to have the gold card, 5K I think or maybe 6K. So I guess what happened in your case is you were only approved for a lower limit?

Check the bottom of your application form, just before you sign / submit.

"After processing this request Citibank may instead offer me a Citibank Silver Card Account. I understand
my signature above constitutes my request for a Citibank Silver Card Account."

Thanks for the clarification on this.

They only give me $4000 limit on the silver card and maybe it doesn't meet the Gold card limit.

Well since both able to accumulate points i think i will just dump the gold card before renewing the card as i don't use much their other services such as insurance, etc.

Cheers.

I have a citibank gold card for more than 1 year now, and I have to pay annual fee.
any 1 know if i apply for another gold card (no annuel fee) will they reject me? should i cancel my gold card before i apply for another one?
Thanks!

You should be OK as long as you have not had a new card or had your credit limit increased in the last nine months.

Don't cancel your old card until your new card is approved. I applied for the new free gold card while I still had my original silver card.

i'm like pcmeow. had a citigold visa for years and had it replaced with a citibusiness visa gold about 3 months ago (offer said same as citi gold except $1=1.25 pts). just paid $119 for the renewal. i'd like to ditch my card and get the no-fee gold card instead ($1=1 pt and no-fee ok for me). would my application be denied because i recently took up an offer to replace my citi gold with a citi business gold card? the citibusiness replaced my citi gold, not sure if it means that's a "new" card. what's the best way? cancel my citi business card and apply or just apply? i don't want to go through the trouble of applying and end up with a no-fee silver card. thanks.

It depends on whether they just transferred your product, or they processed it as a new card application.

If they did it as new application, then they are not going to approve you another one.

How can you guys get business card $1 = 1.25 point? I would rather pay $125 annual fee to get the extra point.

This is a US issued card - Correct me if Im wrong on this but Citibank Australia does NOT issues business cards.

Hope someone might be able to answer my questions.

Is it mandatory to have to fax them your recent payslip? Unfortunately mine have gone missing for a while now (my PA is still trying to find where they got to). Anybody just get approved without faxing documents in?

Has anyone used this card to deposit funds in broker accounts like CMC Markets, MF Global, IG Markets? Is it treated as a cash advance or purchase? If it is a purchase this is great - can get miles and pay no interest!

When I applied they just called up and asked to speak to my manager. They confirmed my pay details with them over the phone and that was it.

I don't know about your question about broker accounts. Usually if you are paying by BPAY and the biller allows credit card BPAY payments, then the card issuer would treat this as a purchase. Some BPAY billers only allow cheque/savings account payment, so if you pay one of these with a credit card then it will treat it as a cash advance.
