"Account activity -If you pay the Closing Balance by the Payment Due Date for 10 out of 12 consecutive months, your maximum interest free period may be reduced to 44 days.

This is just sour grapes by Citibank imo. With all the millions they make in interest, fees, merchant fees etc you'd think they could just cop it on the chin from the occasional customer that doesn't want to rack up debt?!

This means that the number of days in which you must make your repayments will be reduced from 25 days to 14 days". I noted the use of the word 'may' in there...has this occured to anyone else?

Yes, they did it to me on my platinum card, which is why I no longer have the card.

i called up citibank today, spoke to some woman, mentioned the link you posted above (2messages ago), and she said it was from last year and didnt apply anymore. she then tried to pressure me into getting a fee free no-reward card which i wasnt interested in.

does anyone know of any other fee-free cards with 1:1 rewards? im not particularly fond of citibank, just want to avoid fees.

cheers

The link above does work, that's the one I used...so just apply online and it should be fine - $0 fee, $0 supplementary cards, 1:1 rewards

as Dr Nick points out the above link is in fact valid..... just apply using that link and you'll get your CB fee free card with 1:1

is this link working again. tried a month ago got right thru and it failed

The link works PERFECTLY, i applied last week and it all went fine, just waiting for CB to approve the card.

My advice is use it while it still works.
cheers

As a point of interest I signed up for the Gold card a while back, and used it only for the balance transfer rate, and have never used it for a purcahse.

I noticed I had a Retail Interest rate being charged over the last few months, and could not figure out why. (Normally charged a Promo rate for the balance transfer for life promo rate)

I have sent them an email to credit me the tiny amount (and it is about $2 per month).

I have my account paid by direct debit, just for the minimum amount. What I have found though is that even though the payment amount is credited to my account, it is often followed with a Late Payment penalty of $40. The $40 is credited back a day or two later, however I think this is where they have slugged me at the retail rate.

So if anyone has been charged a retail rate and hasn't used the card for normal purchases, it is easy to see. However, if you have a balance transfer, and use your card for purchases, it may not be as easy to see that you maybe charged a little extra interest on any reversed out late payment fee.

The 12 month anniversary of my successful use of this fee free gold card thread is rapidly approaching. Todate have had no problems with Citibank or the card. My wife uses the card and has racked up nearly 35000 points, so I think we will probably get a $250 Harvey Norman voucher.

Not bad, no fees, and a $250 voucher for using a thread on AFF, thanks again to the OP, great find. To those thinking about it, go for it.

I applied one day after the OP and my anniversary was in September. In 15 months I've racked up 65,000 points, 35,000 of which have been transferred to QFF and the other 30,000 will probably follow soon.

I was a bit miffed at the demise of the Woolworths credit card but this one is even better.

I'll echo Reggies sentiments and add my thanks to the OP for finding this.

Except the Woolies card offered 1.25 points at Woolies, Big W etc. that's the only thing I miss about that card compared to the citibank one.

Got a letter today from citibank saying that my application had been denied, after much haggling on the phone and eventually speaking to the manager found out it was because citibank's policy is now to only allow 1 application every 9 months, not 6 months as has been reported earlier. So if anyone has a card they recently got wait 9 months till applying for the new fee free card. Luckily though they didnt do a credit check, so not too fased by it.

The link provided in this thread still works. Got my card today, Friday, I only applied MONDAY !!!! No haggling or anything. No problems (yet).

On the intro letter it states in the box next to Annual Primary Cardholder Fee: $0, same in the box next to Additional Cardholder.

So thanks for the link and the advice to persist with the application.

Worked for me, also.

Time to get rid of my silver and upgrade to gold.. then I can ditch my ANZ QFF Gold also, which is a complete ripoff.

Hi Everyone.

I just got my Citibank Gold Credit Card. I'm not sure if it's annual fee free for life though, but on the paperwork it says annual primary cardholder fee: $119, debited to your account on first use of the Account.
I have used the fee free link provided in this forum. I'm going to call citibank tomorrow and find out if it's free.

Does anyone have this problem?

cheers
Terry.

If they say it isn't free tell them you will not activate the card.
