I never use credit cards to exchange money. I find the rates are good in asia (India and Malaysia and Singapore) are all good 'in-country' when exchanged with the normal shop front money changers. Can negotiate the rate sometimes too.It depends on your exchange method.
For me, I use Nab Gold banking which so far has provided a very competitive rate in most of the countries including HK.
Many other users from here reported Wizard card has the best rate among them all.
If you have none of those cards, then exchanging with your bank in AUS would be much easier and cheaper.

I can't see the AU$ dropping much against the HKD in the next 2 months. After that it may be different.
It currently running at ~HKD6.67, the op is travelling in November.
What makes you think it will change in 2 months?
More like four months, because that is when I will be there.
I was obliquely (I guess) implying that variance in the exchange rate would not be significant in the relatively short period of time between now and travel. What makes you think it will change in 2 months?
