I had the Virgin Clubhouse in HKG to myself after connecting from PVG back in Jan this year. I was the only one there for about 30 minutes until people started arriving from the inbound VS flight from LHR conencting to SYD.

Maybe not so uncommon after all?

On my last visit to NZ, just before the QC closures, I frequently had the lounges to myself - WLG, AKL, CHC domestics... in my eyes it would of been crazy to keep them open - very few QC/SG/WP flying JQ over there.

So what to do in an empty lounge? I find myself end up talking to the staff.

Many moons ago, BNE Ansett Golden Wing Lounge - very late flight one evening.

AKL NZ International Lounge till about 2am when my delayed flight departed.

MKY QP.

When I did a bunch of trips to the Gold Coast last year hubbie & I would often be one of the very few (sometimes only ones) in the Sydney Virgin Lounge

It was great - had their cinema room all to ourselves, they gave us the remote for it as well.

Really great way to travel :)

  • AKL F Lounge 2009 - After the 8:30am SYD flight there was nothing until 1pm.

Oh yes, that's happened this year. Waiting for AKL-MEL but I had a long transfer from my last flight (~4 hours). It wasn't until at least T-2hrs that a couple of people came in.

  • WLG Dom QP (now closed) numerous times

Ditto, except only once. This year in May, merely a week and a bit before it closed.

It was a bit of a weird feeling being the only one there, helping myself to the buffet alone (no cheese scones :() and sitting down at a table with no one else there and no other noise save for the TV. Funny or not so funny enough, I didn't act any different to if the lounge had other people in it.

I know I have been in a lounge by myself but a late night has scrubbed those memory cells.
However i do remember having a plane to myself(OK apart from the crew:)).It was 29/12/1969 on A Fiji Airways HS748 HIR-POM.

Diners Club lounge at Lima International, no one else the whole time waiting, about 2 hours.

Yes the day after 9-11 enroute from Istanbul to Milan. Solo in the BA Exec club T1 LHR. A very erie experience.T1 was like a scene from one of those zombie movies. Lots of staff walking around wondering what to do. Lots of security with guns.
Same trip JAL lounge in LAX this time just due to a long layover
Cheers Danger UXB

Earlier this year Marge, Maggie and I were the only ones in the Centurion Lounge at EZE on two occasions as we passed through Buenos Aires. It felt very special.

A couple of years back on a stopover from LAX to MEL had the AKL QP all to myself for some much craved vegemite toast for breakfast

I had the lounge in ASP to myself for over an hour once.. was great as the bar was self service so my "coke & Bourbon" was mixed to my satisfaction!!

Also have the CX lounge in Melbourne to myself for nearly an hour last month too.

Canberra QP in the afternnoon on 1st January this year. I was heading overseas for six months with work. Not only did the staff tell me to invite all my friends in who were farewelling me they were also pouring my next beer the moment I started walking to the bar. Was a very nice farewell.

Hang on, if they didn't care how many friends came in maybe I wasn't in there alone.........

WOW. I would have loved to be in a situation like that. Lucky you!!!

I got guested into the Launceston QP. It was very early and just the 2 of us. But then again, can you really call it a lounge? Still, it was a novelty as it was the first QP l ever been to and only 2 people inside.

Was in the NPE regional Koru Club the other day.

The "strict rules" say that even as a NZ Gold Elite, there are to be no guests in a regional Koru Club. However, the entrance to the club is guarded only by a PIN-code panel, which can be found by scanning an eligible boarding pass (i.e. if your status is good enough) on the BP scanner outside. So off I scan mine, get the code, punch it into the panel, open the door, and..... let in two guests before me..... but I could have had any number of people walk in, either by letting them in or telling them today's PIN code.

I thought about inviting the whole terminal into the club, but the existing patrons might have had something to say about that, plus the staff on the ground floor might've gotten wise to the idea...

I've had the BNE QP to myself several times. I often find myself on the 7:30 flight up to TSV on a Saturday night.

I don't like being there by myself..makes me feel like sad git that can't think of anything better to do on a weekend than sit in an airport...but after a week in SYD..I'd crawl on broken glass to get home. No offence to SYD residents, I'm sure it nice if you live there...:lol:
