Im sitting in the KUL CX Lounge with all of my friends (zero) at the moment.
The place is literally empty except for the twelve staff.
Has anyone else had an empty lounge, or regularly occured?
Ive had it once before in LST but the QP there is like a shoebox

CX lounge at BKK on Sunday morning
SIN QF F lounge when we flew HKG-SIN-SYD on CX-BA - long layover in SIN

Once I was waiting for an SQ morning flight at MEL, and as soon as the NZ flights departed I was the only person left in the NZ lounge. Also have been to the QF FCL at SIN a couple of times during the middle of the day (once travelling Jetstar and once travelling CX), and it's just been me and one other pax.

QF J and F lounges at BKK.
QF F lounge MEL.
QF F lounge BNE.

I think the CX lounge at KUL is pretty new isn't it? Last time I was there it was pretty tired, and wouldn't have had more than 3 staff in total.

Yes. But fairly insignificant.

Let myself in as only pax in ROK regional QP in May. Big deal.

One time I was on the first flight of the morning BNE-SYD. When the lounges finally opened, I was the first pax into the domestic J lounge, and the solitary pax for about five minutes.

Had the BNE internaitonal QP to myself. Was flying SQ, but decided to use the QP. After the QF flight took off around 1pm, there was a 4hr break to the next OW flight, so I had the lounge to myself for an hour or so. Felt quite strange, and I got lots of odd looks form the staff wandering around tidying up...

Twice at the SKL in BKK I was the only one in it, probably everyone else was in the Thai Airways lounge.

I pretty much had the QF/BA lounge in HKG to myself a few years ago when I rolled up very early for a QF flight to PER. Caused by early hotel check-out combined with late flight.

Yep. QC in NRT was completely empty due to no QF flights going out and i settled there trying out the others while waiting for a JL flight. (Big windows, wifi, recliner chairs and a self serve bar... )

I saw plenty of pissed off QC members rejected due to flying on other carriers while in there.

Yes (sort of), QP in PER, was on the red-eye flight that night, arrived at around 6:00pm (prior to check in opening). My friend and I where allowed to take our check-in baggage up to the QP and wait up there until checkin re-opened (the girl at the QP desk checked us in) we where the only ones in there for over an hour.

At about 8:00pm we went down (one at a time, someone had to stay and guard \ consume the drinks) to drop off the checked bags.

The FlAAgship Lounge at LAX in May - having arrived off a flight from HNL, and connecting through to DFW. What was kind of strange was that they knew I was coming and I was welcomed by name on arrival.

They had a full spread of food and liquor out, and asked which things I would like kept out while they were packing up for the evening.

Canberra QP in the afternnoon on 1st January this year. I was heading overseas for six months with work. Not only did the staff tell me to invite all my friends in who were farewelling me they were also pouring my next beer the moment I started walking to the bar. Was a very nice farewell.

Hang on, if they didn't care how many friends came in maybe I wasn't in there alone.........

Once at AKL NZ Koru International lounge on Monday for NZ 719 1:30pm flight AKL-SYD. We arrived early at 10am and there were only us in the lounge. I actually preferred more people. Too quiet for my liking.

Oh yeah, QC CHC Domestic too. Used it after getting off a QF international and while waiting for an NZ flight.

The reef lounge at CNS on Monday. However a second person turned up about 10 mins before PX93 boarded. My only other recent experience of reef lounge was the same, although the tally eventually went up to about 4 that time. Both times spotlessly clean and eerie.

This lounge used to be QC, it reopened managed by CX about a month after QF closed it. They must be losing a bomb on it.

Cheers skip

MEL F Lounge Friday last week (JQ30 was delayed and upon enquiring at the desk I was told 'you are our only guest we'll come let you know when we're ready to board sir' and was duly notified.

SFO AA lounge very early one morning (was first in)

MKY QP (with a friend). If you could call that a lounge :)

That sort of situation is rather rare, however, off the top of my head:

  • Old MEL INT F lounge 8pm 2007
  • BNE F Lounge ~2001 4pm awaiting the POM-BNE-MEL 763 that used to operate.
  • AKL F Lounge 2009 - After the 8:30am SYD flight there was nothing until 1pm.
  • Old SYD F Lounge 1998 ~2pm awaiting QF15 SYD-MEL-SIN-FCO.
  • WLG Dom QP (now closed) numerous times
  • BKK Loius Tavern 2007 (before the QP/FL opened as Suvannaboom)
  • SIN QF J Lounge morning after the departure of QF31 awaiting my CMB flight.
  • numerous others I'll remember eventually ...

2007 KUL MH F lounge prior to MH129 departure, following an op up! Full hot breakfast buffet was served and the room was incredibly serene compared to the bustling Golden Club lounge, of exactly the same size and visible through the shared glass wall across the koi pond.

2009 AKL QF F lounge prior to QF134 departure, just after the departure of the Sydney flight. Arrived early, so didn't have any MEL-bound WPs for almost an hour - proceeded to eat and drink rather heartily while watching Seinfeld re-runs on the couch in front of the TV. Very pleasant.

Was waiting in the MEL T2 QP for a JQ flight to Bangkok all alone for about an hour in July last year.

I was a bit confused about it at first but had a look at the departures board and there weren't many OW flights going out at that time so that could've been a reason.
