I have to go to LA from BNE, and was told to book it myself as Admin were busy. So I called Flight Centre and they gave me the cheapest fare, which turns out to be PRemium Economy. So I queried it and was told that PE is cheaper than the current Flexi's. I usually end up with a Flexi. So I have decided to go for the better seat and risk a change.

So it seems that a Flexi is rated higher than PE in terms of cost?

But when I look at the status credits table on the VA website it says a Flexi gets 80 and PE gets 120. Is that right? This is a Saver PE, but they don't list that on the website.

I would have expected a Saver PE to be less than a normal Flexi?

Any ideas? I want to see if I requal on this trip (am plat).

Thanks
Ryan

Flexi does earn less than PE ... moreover as a VA WP it might cost less points to upgrade to Business than for a Flexi depending on the booking class.

As pointed out below by williamsf1, the cheaper fare is likely to be discounted PE and if so, would cost the same points as from flexi to upgrade to PE.

Correct - PE on VA earns more (and is generally more expensive than flexi Y).

Sadly this was one thing that QF chose not to fix in their recent program renovations

Assuming it is a premium saver it is the same points level as Flexi to upgrade

Flexi (Y, B, H, K or L)
Business (Z)
45,000
Premium Saver (R or O)
Business (Z)
45,000

Def 120 sc's I have done this a few times. Have tried upgrading twice to J but no success although both times it was 4 of us.

If you don't do BNE - LAX - BNE regularly on VA just keep an easy eye on VA7 or VA8 a few days out before departures.

LAX -BNE is often the sacrificial lamb of the VA Transpac service when ever there is an issue out of LAX on the back of their small fleet. VA2 usually (and VA1 following from that) get the dream run in the vast majority of cases.

VA8 often bears the brunt when things go tech or pear shape - 12 hour delays with a similar corresponding knock on to VA7 are not uncommon.

The 120 SC on the PE saver each way will make your Plat re-qual easier (+25% of the way there in one return trip) ... if there are needed.

I normally go J now but have done a lot of PE runs and still do some on that trip and never had a problem in that cabin.

Plat should get you front row which is OK if you are not tall otherwise opt for another row.
I haven't seen a cabin vary in loads as much as the Bris /LA VA PE one ..... ranges from sold out to 10 PAX total with a big range in between - I have always got a plat shadow bar on the sell out.
